So I changed my name today. I spent two hours in a courthouse, an hour and a half in a Social Security office, and one hour in the DMV to get the basics done. I would have gone insane without my iPod and Keith And The Girl. As for the name, I am now Danyael Amoxtli Gurrola.

**Edit**
So... to explain:

I decided to change my name because of the wedding. I know that this is just a step towards the eventuallity of life (children) and I refuse to pass on/carry the legacy of my birth father. See, my birth father was nothing more than a drunken heroin addict that cost my family our entire life savings, two homes, tens of thousands in back taxes, and six cities. I decided to change my last name to honor my step-father who has, in the short 9-10 years I've known him, been more of a male figure to me as well as more of a stable and honorable man to my mother and little brother than my birth father ever could have been. So now I carry his legacy and the honor of his family with me where ever I go.

The middle name was just added since I've never had one. It's Nahuatl (a dialect that can be traced back to the Aztecs) and means book. When used for a name it roughly translates to "educated individual". Since I was changing the rest, I decided to change my first name to the orginal Hebrew version.

So... that's the story.

Congradulations!
Your name is beautiful and thoughtful.
I get it, why you would want to change your name.

Congratulations! It's sad you had to grow up with all that craziness but I am very glad you had a much better father figure in your life and your mom had a better husband.

edit:also, I dig the meaning of the middle name, well chosen sir.
