IRS fiasco update
Yesterday you guys/gals saw me post some stuff about an issue I am having with the IRS. As per some of you alls request I wanted to update and clear some things up on that. The night before last I went out and tried to use my bank card which came back as declined…so I kept updating my bank account info online to see if anything suspicious came up. When I checked yesterday morning I saw that ALL of my money in both checking and savings was gone, actually leaving me in the negative because of overdraft fees from the bank. There was a note attached that said the IRS had levied my entire account and attached a case #. I spent all day yesterday on the phone with the IRS and several tax lawyers. The IRS claims that I owe money from 2010 and that they have tried to contact me numerous times to get that taken care of. They claim that they sent 2 certified letters to my p.o box but they they were returned…which is highly improbable because why would my p.o box employees do that.
Yes I was aware that I owed money but was on a payment plan and the amount was no where near what they took from my bank account. After speaking to several IRS employees and lawyers I am told that I have to submit all of the info/letters/taxes that I have to see if they match up with their documents. If they don’t (which they obviously wont because I don’t owe as much as they think I do) then I have to submit an amended form. IF I can prove that I do not owe what they think I owe then they will return my money to me.
HOWEVER…that will take anywhere from 30-60 days……which means I am BROKE…broke broke broke. I currently have nothing but the $100 dollars I made at work last night to my name and the only money I will have until this clears up is what I make from this paycheck forward on MFC. So it is now even more important to make my goals for this month and next until this things gets cleared up or I will have nothing to fall back on. I’m starting at 0 guys.
That being said my rent check for this month had no gone through yet when this happened so I hope my landlord will want to wait till after the 15th to cash it. I also do not have any living expenses until my check comes in.
