Eurgh, feel like utter shit today so I'm staying off work. Tried to drive but almost crashed the car- not good when it's 7:30am, pitch black and pissing down with rain either
Hence I'm doing what I should have done absolutely AGES ago after being tagged by Una and writing 20 things about myself so you can get a picture of my odd little world....

Hey kids
Today is a good day, it is Friday
. It also one of the rare days this week I have not had a complaint for one of my news stories
Don't talk to me about the Great British (or Welsh) Public. I need them so I have news stories, but they have a nasty tendency to turn around and bite me on the...

First off - HUG!!
thanks!
yaknow I must admit as much as I like SF and Anime I've NEVER been to a con? (hangs head in shame)
Cool idea for the tat - I've decided what I want is some variation on the cover of the very first SF book I ever bought ("Skylark 3", by EE "Doc" Smith) I just gotta figure out where to put it on me.
Oh well, it'll work out...
The new place is a 3 bedroom rowhome with a rooftop deck in "Brewers Hill" in Baltimore, MD. It's alittle far from where I wanted to be but it's a quiet street (for all that it's a major through road) with plenty of parking (I just drove by about 20 minutes ago and parked right out front. Cool!). It's got a full basement I can ALMOST stand up in, 1 bathroom (booo!), no central air (boo!!!), a rooftop deck and there's a bigass catholic church/school on the corner. The rent's a BIT more than I wanted to spend but it's OK, I think/hope.
I'm not moving much, my clothes, my old captains chest (antique sorta thing with a burlwood veneer - it's nice), my futon, and possibly my old bed. I think my parents are gonna kick in a TV since they've got a spare one and I'm gonna use my computer to be the "media center"/DVD player/stereo/etc.
It should be interesting

oh my god, it took 2 hours to do and it hurt soooo much! the first hour wasnt so bad, but after that..ouwwwwchhhh.
it might need some touching up on the yellow as well because im not sure if its taken to my skin too well, its hard to tell cuz its not healed yet, it might just be where its sore that the yellow doesnt look bright enough
they shud invent some kind of pain free, instanat healing tattoo. that would be great

you should deffinatly call into the ship for a few drinks, the staff and customers alike are really friendly and welcoming. and if its a saturday night there is a strong chance some of the sguk members are in enjoying a few drinks. just ask the staff when you getin in as they all know the regulars

You SHOULD write them down tho - lord knows that there's enough stuff being made that almost anybody could do better than you MIGHT have a shot at becoming atleast somewhat better off
.
I mean, how many times do we NEED some of those movies to be made/remade - like all those TV show movies, ferinstance.

hello there,
yes that Stay Beau scene is quite interesting on an anthropological level, though it does get a bit seedy watching fortysomething Rod Stewart wannabes chatting up glammy 14 year olds who then redouble their pulling efforts after they find out how old the kid really is
Also I wonder if you'll be covering the International Manga Art Festival in your professional capacity, sounds like it could be fun...
Then the following week (on the 26th) Paul Gravett has his latest book launch at the ICA, if you don't know Paul you should try to hook up with him he's the David Attenborough of comics, and a real sweetie...

Thanks for complimenting my headgear on the Manko's page.
That's my fetish hat v.2 (fetish in a witch doctor sense) it's actually quite an important piece magickally speaking but I can't be more specific...
The wankers at the art show were the types who will come and stand in between you and the person you're talking to and take over your conversation. They were for the most part rich, pumped up on their own self importance and buying art they don't understand because someone told them it was cool. The really vile thing way that their bad behaviour was not only tolerated but encouraged.

Oh. My. God.
I've just sold my first article to a magazine in the UK! If you've heard of Neo Magazine (UK's only anime/ Asian culture magazine) then in 2 months' time you should get treated (or tortured) by my viewpoint on GTO. All for the princely sum of 3.50. And 30 for me, hurrah!
In other news, I am still awaiting my degree results....

no - I WANT to see it on an IMAX screen - there was WAY to much stuff goin' on
.
The space battle was like WWii and pirate battles smashed together with the capital ships lining up for broadsides (in the same plane no less!) while fighters flew around them dogfighting and buzzard droids (WTF??) flew around eating the fighers. I mean - haven't these people ever heard of missles? At least the capital ships had a big cannon (welll, one of them did) - but what was up with the shell casings? LOL. Oh well.
Vader's Noooooo didn't bother me particularly, nor the Wookies on vines doing tarzan (aside from - where were those vines attached? some flying cruiser or something? sheesh
) - I don't remember the audience laughing at Vader either when he did that - the theatre I saw it in was one people that "believe" go see things in so that might be part of it.
I think I'm going to go see it again at the local Muvico monster-mega-plex (24 screens of movie goodness - it's fun when they've got 24 screens but they're only showing 6 movies) just to get a different take on the audience and the projection system (I'm not that much a theatre bigot but - well, yeah, I guess I am
) - where I saw it had a 2nd generation print and state of the art sound tuned by trained people that care, while most theatres get 3rd+ generation prints and sound systems tuned by monkeys
.
BTW, I never bothered to grow up - altho I did get a job (well, a bunch - like 1 every two years for the last 20 or so - with 1 5 year stop and 1 3 year stop - who needs vacation
). Growing up is overrated anyway
.
and I'll second the voting thing - vote him out so you guys yank your support for Iraq, maybe Bush'll get the idea.
Not.
Sigh.
