even though this week had perfect beach weather and i wasn't at the beach like i was supposed to be, it was a good week. for the most part. i got the lumber to start building stella's new cage. but i almost had an utter catastrophe. as i was driving home from home depot in my daddy's truck, i pulled out from a red light and hit a pothole and two 4'x8' sheets of plywood and two 8' long 2"x4"s slide out of the bed of the truck and into the intersection. SHIT! luckily for me, the dude behind me was paying close enough attention, and hanging back enough, that none of it hit his truck. somehow all of the wood ended up smack in the middle of the intersection, in the middle of the two northbound lanes. so i pull over on the shoulder and wait there for a minute feeling like a total ass, but glad that the wood is in a place and arrangement so that it isn't holding up traffic [did i mention that this is on a major highway at rush hour?]. so anyway, i wait for the light to turn red, and then run out into the street to drag the wood one piece at a time to the side of the road. luckily, the crossroad is only the entrance to a development, so there is hardly any traffic that way. then this awesome dude pulls over driving a harley and smoking a cigar, and helps me get the heaviest piece of plywood off the road, and helps me reload the truck, and helps me anchor the wood better. he was the greatest, and i'm still trying to think of a way to repay him. money doesn't seem appropriate, and i don't know if flowers are either, for a 50-something harley-driving construction worker. so yea, that was some excitement.
plus, i got hit on at home depot by this guy who tried to convince me that he was in awe of my beauty and that he was "utterly devastated" that i'm engaged. what a whack job! i mean, he was a nice guy, but he laid it on a little thick, if you know what i mean. i must admit though, part of me was flattered. especially my chest, since that's what got most of the attention from his eyes.
today we went to the "celtic fling" at the PA ren faire grounds, it was great fun. sean ordered his kilt for the wedding; he was uber-excited and it was so cute. i'm excited too, i think he's going to look wonderful. i also got a chainmail necklace and a lovely uneven sunburn. plus there was an accident on the turnpike and it took over 2 hours to get home. WHEE!
tomorrow is my first day of work. eek! i'm really not nervous, and i'm actually excited and ready to get to work, because i've had a month and a half off and i'm running out of things to occupy myself with. oh yea, and the getting paid thing is nice, too. wish me luck!! i'll try to update more often so that my posts aren't novels, but my life isn't usually this interesting. if you've actually read this far, you must be really incredibly bored. i'm sorry. good night.
