Hello, Oi, Ciao, Hola, gorgeous babes and gents. Another Sunday Funday is upon us and what a great one it is. I hope your day is almost as good if not better than mine. I weighed myself yesterday and I’m down another five pounds. Since I’ve started my weight loss journey I’ve lost twenty pounds. I feel great and have boundless amounts of energy. Only Eighty more to go before I reach my final goal of 177lbs. Cat and I have come to an agreement about Christmas activities and my minimal participation in them. She doesn’t like it and just has to accept that I will never be excited for Christmas since my dad passed three years ago. My dad lived for Christmas he would dress up as Santa for the kids. Sing songs and generally be one jolly dude. Usually the first one to put up decorations, and make large quantities of eggnog. My mom will be showing up on Saturday for the holiday, which is exciting because I haven’t seen my mom in person for eight years. My bae and I have an awesome day planned. Watching the Vikings game then we are going to go for a bike ride, then heading up to Idaho Springs for a dip in the hot spring. A nice romantic get away for the evening.
I have been enjoying the new Vic Mensa ep. One of the better new rappers, the production and rhymes are on point. I’ve been jamming this track.
Last week saw the passing of a punk rock legend. Pete Shelley was the principle song writer and guitarist/vocalist for The Buzzcocks. Which I saw last year at riot fest. One of mine and my sister Maria’s favorite bands this blog is all about The Buzzcocks.
Formed in 1976 in Bolton, England. Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley got together with Steve Diggle and John Maher. The band had a gig opening up for the Sex Pistols when they came to Manchester. This track was my introduction to the Buzzcocks
This next track is always in my punk rock mixtapes, the first song I learned to play on guitar, I’ve got Cat on board as well.
This next song essentially describes my sexual appetite, never ending and a constant monkey on my back. To combat this I took a vow of celibacy for a year, it was tough but I’m able to reign in my libido now.
This next track is probably the most well known song in the bands catalog. I’ve heard numerous cover versions of this song. They all pale in comparison.
this next track sees Pete Shelley’s songwriting skills gaining a level of pop sensibility, to match the punk attitude that is the true description of their music. Plus some interesting synthesizer work
The next proper album didn’t come out until 1993 and it had this track on it, as the lead single.
Having gotten this compilation of early singles from my sister this song has always been one of my favorites.
