Oi, Hello, Hola, Ciao gorgeous babes! Hope your day/night is going well. If not there’s always tomorrow. Another snowy Sunday here in Colorado. Cat was making snow angels last night when it started. It was super adorable, she is a winter person through and through. I made us some breakfast, huevos rancheros with homemade green chili, and frijoles refritos. I’m helping Cat dye her hair today, and then we are going thrifting, then I am making some huaraches for dinner. While we watch the Vikings game.
We have a new band that we are enjoying. Roine Stolt’s the Flower King. The musicianship is too notch, somewhere between progressive rock and a jam band. The songs are mini epics, which have blown me away. I am a believer now, this song has got me in its grip.
Todays subject is one that holds a special place in my heart. The south has always gotten a bad rap, because of past indiscretions. Yes there are some backward assclowns but that’s not everyone. Some of the best times of my life were spent in the southern states. So we will journey through the south. The first artist I will talk about is from a place I’ve yet to visit, hailing from Oxford, Mississippi R.L. Burnside was a highly touted blues musician in the underground scene. This song has always been a favorite of mine.
We make our next stop in Alabama. The king of country music, the country band I play in covers a few of his tunes. Hank Williams Sr. Has one of those voices that can’t be mistaken for anyone else. I sing this song to Cat when she is cooking and I am helping her in the kitchen. I’m a cheeseball, no I don’t care.
some of the greatest moments I’ve had took place in New Orleans. Brass bands and beignets. Drinking whiskey on a bourbon street balcony. This group always takes me back to those times.
Making my way through Georgia, I encountered a man wearing a tie-dyed shirt and singing a song by this next band at the top of his lungs in downtown Savannah. The band he was singing is from Athens, Georgia. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Widespread Panic play at Red Rocks, a few times.
I spent some time in Louisville, Kentucky with some friends who were crazy about this man. Sam Bush is a very skilled mandolin player and one of the better bluegrass musicians of modern times.
you can’t mention the south without these guys. I love their early records. The later stuff not so much. Lynyrd Skynyrd has crucnchy riffs and Ronnie Van Zants voice is easily one of the best in the southern rock pantheon. Coming out of Jacksonville, Florida. The legends of southern rock. I love the riff in this song, and the line “you will not hear me cry, because I do not sing the blues”
The last southern state I’ve visited and had the pleasure of going to a south by Southwest festival. Austin, Texas is hipster heaven, eating burritos at La Zona Rosa, while this band threw down a seriously awesome set.
I have yet to visit the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi. Hopefully one day I can make that happen.
Today’s bum is a cute Brazilian woman, she likes the Silence of the Lambs, knows how to shoot a gun. She is also incredibly gorgeous.
O traseiro de hoje é uma mulher brasiliera, ela gosta do silêncio dos cordeiros, um dos meus filmes favoritos, pode atirar em uma arms, ela é incrivelmente linda @khachery
Have great day everyone!
