Hello, Hola, Ciao, Oi beautiful babes, I hope your Sunday is going well, if not may the winds of happiness blow away the clouds of despair. It was snowing all morning so Cat was in a fantastic mood and cooked us a nice breakfast. Fresh fruits. Ezekiel toast egg in baskets, and some fresh squeezed Orange Juice. I had an awesome birthday week, everyone was so nice, and my bae got me a dope Red Wings beanie, I took Cat to her first hockey game and she loved it. Which totally melted my heart, I’m hoping she becomes a Wings fan, she likes the Predators so that’s okay with me too. How cute would we be in matching Red Wings jerseys. I got to hang out with my sisters, aunties and uncles, nieces and nephew. Ate some good food and way too much cake.
The new Cripple Bastards record La Fine Cresce Da Der really blew me away when I put it on. The Italian Grindcore masters have made an album that blows anything they have done previously out of the water. I wish my Italian was better so I could understand the lyrics but I’m still learning. This track is seriously brutal, the blast beats are relentless, the guitars shred.
Next up the new Cult Leader record A Patient Man which is the first one by them that I have heard. So not having a basis of comparison. I dig it. This is new school hardcore at its finest. Aggressive without being over the top, this track has got me thinking about starting another hardcore band.
Today’s subject is dedicated to my sweetie and about one of the bands that we both enjoy tremendously. Iron Maiden has been a steady pick in my rotation, if metal was a hockey team Iron Maiden is the star center. The Steve Yzerman of metal. The songs are literate and intelligent with expert musicianship. A source of inspiration for a lot bands. Your favorite metal band definitely listens to Iron Maiden. All these songs were chosen by Cat and I. Going in chronological order one from each record.
From the self titled record featuring original vocalist Paul Di’Anno. This track is essential Iron Maiden.
The second record Killers would see the departure of Paul Di’Anno. This track is one that gets me pumped up at shows.
The next record would feature new vocalist Bruce Dickinson. It would also see the departure of drummer Clive Burr.
The next record Peace Of Mind was the first to feature drumming from my favorite drummer Nicko McBrain. This song is epic Maiden.
My favorite record from start to finish Powerslave, this next song has one of my favorite guitar solo’s
This next record was one that saw Steve Harris flirting with synthesizers. One of my favorite Eddie’s by artist Derek Riggs. Somewhere Back In Time, has this classic
Featuring some slick production and more prominent use of Synthesizer by bassist and songwriter Steve Harris. Seventh Son of A Seventh Son, features this live show staple
The next album No Prayer For The Dying would see the departure of founding guitarist Adrian Smith. Who left before the albums completion. Replaced by Janick Gers who had worked with band White Spirit. This song is a Maiden classic.
the next record Fear of the Dark would see the departure of Bruce Dickinson, who left to pursue a solo career. This is Cat’s favorite song.
The first record to feature vocalist Blaze Bayley. the start of a two record set with Bayley on vocals, The X-Factor is one my of my least favorite records that are in their catalog that I just can’t listen to willingly.
So this song is well written and played, when it’s played live it’s definitely a crowd pleaser. Again Bayley’s vocals don’t do it justice. The last record with him on vocals Virtual XI closed out the nineties for Iron Maiden
The next record saw the return of Adrian Smith, and the return of vocalist Bruce Dickinson. Janick Gers stayed making them a six piece band and the first to feature the three guitar assault. Brave New World. Has one of my favorite songs of the latter day catalog.
The next record Dance of Death was the first record that I was legitimately excited for only to be slightly disappointed some of the songs were a little weak. This one is pretty good.
The next record was a welcome return after having worked out the kinks on the previous one. A Matter Of Life and Death was the last record of the 00’s
The next record the Final Frontier started the beginning of the current decade, I saw this show at Fiddlers Green in Denver, they had Dream Theater open up the show. This song has a cool little solo.
The last record that came out in 2015 The Book Of Souls, is definitely the one that Cat and I always agree on. This is their best sounding and well written record of the later Maiden records.
Todays bum is a metalhead, gamer and lover of kitty cats. She is incredibly beautiful, I’m super excited to see more of her. The gorgeous @lorry
