Oi, Ciao, Hello, Hola gorgeous babes hope you having a wonderful day/night! Remember there is always light at the end of the darkness. Today is going to be packed with good friends and hopefully good football. The Lions are playing the Seahawks which should be a good game. My friends from Milwaukee are stopping by for dinner tonight, fried cheese curds and Bratwurst with some Mac and Cheese, then it’s back on the low sodium diet, yeah cheat day. Cat is visiting her parents in Colorado Springs, I miss her dearly waking up in my bed alone this morning made me a little sad, it’s okay because I will see my love tomorrow night. My body hurts from getting back on the exercise train but it’s a good hurt.
Not much at the record store this Friday, that really caught my attention so there is only one review the new Ty Segall cover record Fudge Sandwich. Is some more twisted garage rock versions of classic songs. This uptempo version of a Grateful Dead classic took me by surprise.
Today’s subject was inspired by @aflalimo her blog had a song by an artist that I enjoy a lot. So today’s subject is the ladies of R&B. Growing up in an era where there was a lot of men in the R&B pantheon. Some of these ladies took control in the male dominated genre. The first one was Mariah Carey, I think I was in my early teenage years when she came around.
This song was one of my favorites to come out during the early nineties and it’s by in my opinion the queen of R&B.
This woman speaks to my soul with her gritty voice and her story. Having overcome a lot of adversity in her time. This song was in my head this morning while I was making breakfast.
This next lady may she rest in piece could have been a legend had she not passed away so early in her career. Always in my rotation and always in my heart. This track was released posthumously
This track off the Romeo Must Die soundtrack showcases her angelic voice. You will be missed.
This next artist is a brilliant songwriter, an amazing singer. She has definitely been in my rotation since she first debuted, she is the reason this blog exists. Alicia Keys makes me want to be a better piano player.
This next song is one of my favorites although it features my least favorite female rapper on the album track. Alicia Keys makes up for it.
This next singer is one I’ve always had a soft spot for, I can often be found singing her ballad in the walk in at work, when I cant find something. That artist is Toni Braxton. This is not that song.
This is the song
I have mixed feelings about this next artist I like some of her stuff. Some of it is radio trash. She came out with the soft cell sample and I was like yeah this cool.
Then of course she came out with this banger and my faith was renewed only to be let down by finding out she’s a terrible person.
Which brings me to my closer and she’s a good one everybody loves her and she has an amazing voice, I sang this song to Cat in the car when she gave this guy with a Cowboys sticker on his window the finger. Sadly she also left us. Rest In Peace Whitney Houston
You were a true legend
Today’s bum is a Spanish cutie that not only is a great photographer, she is a great model as well. She likes to roller skate and watch Dragon Ball Z, she’s a cosplayer, her Princess Monoke set was amazing. The lovely @bretema
Thanks for your support babes! Have a lovely Sunday!
