Hello, Hola, Ciao, Oi, Gorgeous babes! May your Sunday be as bright and lovely as mine. If it isn’t I will send my good vibes your way. Today is great I made some Waffles, fruit salad, fruit smoothies, and gave my lady a back rub because she was sore from having a busy night. Gave her a kiss goodbye when she left for work, I am working on a surprise for dinner, when she gets back from work. It’s chocolate cupcakes that I’m currently baking while I write this. The Lions are playing the Dolphins so it may be a good game, or the Lions crush the fins.
Not very many records at the old Twist and Shout this Friday. The last Minus The Bear record Fair Enough. Is a bittersweet listen for me as they are calling it quits and this is the very last songs they recorded. I’ve really liked this song.
Today’s subject is one that I’ve been in love with for quite some time. That is the Drums. If you read my blogs religiously you know I am always excited about good drumming. I started playing the drums in my early twenties, when a band mate of mine left his drums at my house and I was bored with the guitar. I started playing along to Motörhead, The Ramones and Metallica Records. I currently play in two bands. One is an outlaw country cover band, called The Longarm Of The Outlaw. We play all the classics Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, David Alan Coe, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and some Jerry Reed tunes. The other one is a funeral doom project called Skullworms. Featuring my amazing lady Cat on guitar and vocals. My dear friend Chris on bass, and my little sisters husband Donnie on guitar. Cat has been my best student when it came to the guitar, it was very natural for her. Plus she is a talented singer. Enough about me, on with the show!
My hero behind the drum kit. That got me into the idea of being a drummer was Nicko Mcbrain from Iron Maiden. This track is what kicked it off
Another incredibly talented human being and an amazing lyricist, Neal Peart joined Rush and the band went from a blues rock power trio, to becoming the gods of Progressive Rock. His drumming is what I try to emulate.
My cheesehead friend Mikey got me into this next dude by playing a record called Jazz is Dead which was jazz fusion covers of Grateful Dead tunes. The drummer is Jazz legend Billy Cobham.
Another fusion Jazz drummer that I’ve always been a fan of has been, Billy Martin of Medeski, Martin, and Wood. He’s got a funky style which is fun to watch.
post-metal legends Isis have always been in my rotation because of the solid drumming from Aaron Harris. I’ve been a fan since they first came around in 1997.
Not only is this next drummer a total babe she is also incredibly talented. Hannah Welton-Ford She was in Prince’s band, her group before Prince, was pretty great, here is a song she did with Prince.
Another bad ass lady drummer is Meytal Cohen, I first saw her playing a Tool song on YouTube and have been hooked ever since. This is her bands debut record and her drumming is top notch as always
Speaking of Tool. Danny Carey is my drumming spirit animal, his use of a hybrid electric/acoustic kit is something I currently employ myself. This song has been one of my favorites until they come out with their new record.
for my final drum hero I’ve chosen a guy that is a beast behind the drum kit. I’ve been constantly inspired by his playing. That drummer is Ben Koller. I’ve picked this Converge song because the drums are fuego.
So for today’s bum I’ve chosen a cutie who likes Dragon Ball Z, likes to dance and has a cute cat named socks. She was photographed by the talented @chef and she is a Latina, you know how I love the Latina babes. The gorgeous @saiyan
Thanks for your support and have a lovely Sunday babes!
