I cannot believe that it is 2008 and that in three semesters, I will be a UC Berkeley Graduate (god willing).
2007 was pretty amazing. I performed in the Vagina Monologues, saw my friends in Colorado, moved in to a new home in Seattle, went to Chiapas, started a great job, moved into my fucking FANTASTIC co-op, met some awesome new friends, performed in an amazing performance piece, began my drag career, had some insightful relationships (both good and bad), and learned a lot about myself. Oh, and my grades this semester totally rocked.
2008 is looking to be great, too. I will be attempting to make myself a regular at the White Horse, teaching a class on Zapatismo, taking on a manager's position at my co-op, welcoming friends home from abroad, partying more, working to become more healthy and, excitingly enough, starting what looks to be a promising new relationship.
Winter break at home has been a trip, as usual. My dad is getting a lot worse, both mentally and physically. My mom has given me no end of shit about the way I'm dressing. She's constantly saying things like "I raised a daughter" and "so are you going to start being a boy now?" I'm too frustrated to try to explain to her the finer points of my gender identity.
But I got lots of cool shit for Xmas. Books on and in Spanish, music, DVDs, books, more books, and the company of my wierd, but fantastic family. My nephews are fucking AWESOME, by the way.
New years was far too much fun. Started with a decadent dinner with Kyla and her boy, moved on to video games at home then to a gathering at RC's with the addition of Darcy and Brian, and finally ended at a very dykey house party with tons of lesbian drama and a lot of dancing, too.
It was a great end to a great year with great friends. Overall, I'm a very happy Morgan who has great expectations for the year ahead.
