I'm having an excellent couple of weeks.
I finished the sculpture of my father I've been working on for the past two months. Aside from a few annoying fuckups, I'm pretty happy with it.
I also got to Raku again on Saturday. Here are pictures of the process-
first picture is of the kiln. the glazed pieces are fired until they're white hot and then the top of the kiln is removed (second picture). The third pic is the trashcan filled with newspaper where the white hot pieces are put. The pieces ignite the newspaper and a lid is put on the trashcan so the pieces are put into a "reduction" environment (an environment without air). After a while the pieces can be fished out of the trashcan (fourth pic). The fifth picture is one of the pieces fresh out of the trashcan (still hot and covered in ash!) and the sixth is the same piece after it has been cleaned.
The following are the sides of the two mugs I rakued and the top of one of them.
Other than art, I'm in a fantastic mood because of this amazing, adorable pink haired EECS major I'm dating. Forgive my ridiculousness in the picture..
I go home in TWO WEEKS. What's cooler is that I'll be in CHIAPAS, MEXICO IN FOUR WEEKS!! Fuck yes. I cannot wait. fjdk;jflka;da
