Aubrey Huff: Still an asshole
Well it's been quite some time sense Aubrey Huff was deemed an asshole and it seems nothing much has changed. Before I go into this let me explain something, hopefully it will get across the degree of which I don't care for this guy. Huff is now a Baltimore Oriole; I'm a huge Oriole fan so I back every player to wear the uniform, even if they suck. I can recognize when a player sucks but, hey at least there an Oriole so you can't hate on them entirely, at least they're on the side of the good guys. In the past this rule has had only one single exception, David Wells. David Wells was a member of the Orioles in 1996, during his time with the time all he did was bitch and cry and bitch and cry some more, and didn't pitch too great while he was at it. When he finally got out of the town not only did he act like it was the greatest thing ever he also started to actually pitch well, fuck him. David Wells is the only Oriole I've ever hated. Now when I say hate, I'm not wishing any harm on the dude, I just can't fucking stand his face. This single player hate held true, think back on how many players on the O's that have sucked and everyone else has hated...Sammy Sosa comes to mine quickly as an example. Sammy says he hit ball, but while in Baltimore he sucked balls, and got many boos and jeers because of it, most of which deserving, but hey, he was an Oriole so at least he had that going for him. Fast forward to 2007 Aubrey Huff is on the Bubba the Love Sponge Radio show. A few things were said here, now here I do have to apologize, it's been a while sense this happened so everything may not be quoted perfectly but it should be close. I tried for a while but couldn't find a transcript or anything of the show, anyway. A few things were said, first off what got him the most heat, a comment that was out of line, and that he gets a big 'fuck you' for is he called Baltimore "a horseshit city". Later he said his remarks were taken out of context and he was only commenting on the city's night life, whatever, fuck you, I heard the entire show, it was not taken out of context, if that's what he meant he should learn how to speak before going on a national radio show because that is most definitely not what was said. As big as an insult as this was it gets worse but I'll stray from that for a second. One thing that pissed off a lot of people I could give a flying fuck about. He said something along the lines that he masturbates in hotel rooms that he says in and that he's probably jacked it in every major hotel in the country - or something to that effect. To this I say, so the fuck what. I don't know if you've noticed but Aubrey Huff is a dude, that's what we do, no problem what so ever there, anyone who got pissy over that needs to lighten the fuck up. Now the part of this that really pissed me off, oddly enough more than the Baltimore comment, was when Bubba asked Aubrey about batting practice and coaches. Huff then went on to describe how all of that is bullshit, and how he approaches it is "I see the ball, I hit the ball, I see the ball, I hit the ball". Most people reading this won't find a problem with this comment as he seems to have a pretty good average and number of home runs, but at the time he made this comment he was swinging the bat like a nine year old girl. His average was so low we could have replaced him with a kid from little league and no one would have noticed. So obviously he was not following his advice to "see the ball, hit the ball". This radio show appearance got his a lot of boo's on opening day in 2008, very well deserved as far as I'm concerned. But Baltimore being the fairweathered fans that they are totally forgot about Aubrey's comments as soon as he started to produce some numbers. Me, I hold a grudge, I haven't forgotten and Huff has earned the spot as only the second Oriole that I have ever hated. I'd trade the man for anything. Huff for a half a bag of chips and some stale lettuce? Deal! Now it's 2009, most people like Huff again, still not me though. Now this next part I can guarantee is going to go unnoticed by the masses, but I took notice, and he just reaffirms that he's still a dick. It's early in the season I give you that, but the 'big bat' Aubrey Huff has yet to go better than 1 for 3 in a game (as of 4/12). He's reportedly been putting in a lot of extra time with the hitting coach which is understandable and apparently needed. The game on Monday he finally produces some at bats, gets on base (I believe) every time he goes up to the plate, great! However cut to today's game (4/14) before the game they're interviewing Aubrey Huff and they say "well it seems like that extra time you've been putting in with Terry Crowley (Hitting Coach) has really paid off" Huff's response? "nope, I've finally gotten some pitchers that'll pitch to me, that's all"
......Really? So you've been eating a dick at the plate the past few weeks, put in a lot of extra time with the hitting coach, finally start to produce and the coach didn't help you at all? It's all because you're so great? Most people would just brush this off, and probably should but Aubrey Huff really pisses me off, like just something like this, it seems to be all about him and how great he is. I'll cheer the day we get rid if this jerk, hopefully it's soon......Oh and don't give me some 'oh he's really a good guy' bullshit, because I don't care, fuck him.
And sense I've been ending these with some entertaining bits from youtube. A rant from a great Oriole, the greatest manager of all time, Earl Weaver: (also one of the greatest ranters of all the man's a hero to millions)
