So the gratitude/jimmy show was pretty great. A good amount of annoyances (usually in the form of drunken, underage preppies who were only there to get drunk, act like assholes, and sing along to the JEW singles and talk and scream during every other song), but any amount of annoyances can always be cancelled out by jonah/kara conversation. We talked about politics, baltimore, the ottobar, the LJ community, the constant hectic nature of his life. A free t-shirt and a long, warm hug and I was walking away with that familiar, ohsounique feeling of calm and peace and happiness that he instills in me. God i love him. Part of me wishes he weren't so busy all the time.
It was insanely cool to see him sing with a band and without a guitar for the first time in so long. He was totally enjoying it, embracing the opportunity to rock out. Go baby go
Especially after hearing it live, the gratitude stuff has a lot of Far in it. Can't wait for the album.
JEW was great. Of course. They played for a good hour and 45 mins, and a lot of old stuff. I was happy to see them, but I was especially happy for Jason to see them for a 2nd time, he's a much bigger fan than I.
The drive home was really rough. Totally remniscent of the drive home from Pittsburgh last year after seeing Bright Eyes. It's 4 hours, my baby was sooo sleepy and I was too, and also super effing sick. I stayed awake, though it was a struggle, for him, and he was really miserable most of the time. It gets scary when he starts to like swerve and his eyes start to droop and stuff. But we made it, thanks to a lot of coffee and a lot of old school cheesy ass pop punk to give us energy. But god...getting only 2 hours of sleep really fucked me over with my illness. I was already so sick, and the next day I was sick to the point of fear. Needless to say, I failed my math test, which is okay b/c i get to retake it on Friday. But I also have the notes for 6 nights (about 15 hours total worth of stuff) of screenings for film class due on friday, and I've missed FIVE of those nights. I mean, holy shit. I can go to the library to watch the shit but I don't even have enough time in my day tomorrow to do it all. Damn me.
So yeah, i'm feeling somewhat better this evening. I slept until 1, stayed in bed until 3, and skipped classes. I better feel better tomorrow. Dammit.
