Hi there lion cubs!
Today I decided to go back in the game of homework, with a bit of an explanation of my SG name.
Those of you following me, especially on instagram, already know that I prefer to spend most of my time reading and playing video games.
I remember meeting @gladyce for the first time and she thought my SG had something to do with my real name -which is often an assumption people make. But nope. My SG name has to do with my obsession for fantasy.
I initially wanted my name to be Andraste, from the Goddess in Dragon Age, my favourite game ever. She has quite a badass back story, even though I'm not really keen on the whole religion thing. But anyway, a member had already taken that name and I was very much disappointed.
(That's Andraste right there.)
I then proceeded to go through my favourite fantasy stories to think of a suitable name to replace Andraste. At the time, I was a redhead, and I also happened to be a Witcher fan. Hold right there for a second. Most people actually discovered the Witcher through the video games - I did play the 1st one and I still have to do the 2nd one - but I didn't, I had read the books by Sapkowski quite a few years before the first game was released. For those of you knowing the game, Triss Merigold is a redhead witch, but she's WAAAAAY different from the way I imagined her. In fact, she's nothing like the one from the book I remember. So I took the name Merigold as a tribute to her - the book Triss - but I happened to be a redhead like the game Triss.
And that is how, my friends, Merigold was born. @rambo, @missy, hope you enjoy the story!
