Well, been a while since I updated. Uhm. I'll see if I can correct that in the future. For the moment, I'm in my last semester of graduate school, teaching a lot, and sleeping. (Note that none of those including the magic phrase, "finishing my novella." I should get on that.)

Glad to add you! biggrin I love adding all the SGKC people, I've just been away way too long.

Thanks for telling me how to favourite pictures - I just couldn't for the LIFE of me see that heart. Haha!

Congrats on being in your last semester of grad school, heck yeah!

Pattern Recognition (This Year's Naked Redhead)

It's not that hard to see the pattern
When I do it every single year
Latch onto a woman standing at the fire
And then give into my fear
I write some sappy fucking letter
And slip it into her bag
I hunt the same prey so often
They ought to fit me with a tag

You're this year's...

Fun news!

First: sometime next week, my story "Hrafspa" will be up on Killing the Buddha! KtB is a FANTASTIC literary journal about religion from an oddball perspective, and I could not be happier about having my work accepted there. I'll link it when it goes up.

Secondly: my band, The Yellow Emperors. is playing its first gig next week at the Brick...

I spoke with the head of the English department here at UMKC today about our iPhD program. I didn't apply to our program this year for a couple of reasons -- one, it was here, and I've always heard it's good policy in academia to move around when you can, and two, it wasn't a creative writing program, so I wasn't really interested. Oddly enough,...

Hi SG. I know I don't post here, uh, ever, mainly because maintaining three different blog/journal/things is difficult.

I got good news earlier in the month. My story "Three Encounters with the Gods" DID appear in the most recent issue of Ashe! Journal, and the magazine is pretty slick. I also got a new car and a new computer (although I had to get both...

My story "Three Encounters With The Gods" is going to be published in the winter 2009 issue of Ashe! Journal.

I'm going to be a published author.

I'm convulsing in happiness right now.

A Drabble

My lust is a microscope: cold, precise, and objective. Thats not to say that I dont want. I want more than anything. But my lust for you is the same as my lust for a Caravaggio painting, for a Stein poem, for a Miles trumpet line. I am not so interested in you, dear, as what you could mean, what you could represent....

So this happened to me tonight:

I went out with my buddy Ryan and his girlfriend and some of their friends tonight. We got back to his girlfriend's house at about 12:30 AM, and most of the group left right afterward. Her brother was throwing up intermittently from too much drinking for a while, and the remainder of the group sat around bullshitting and occasionally...

wow that's disgusting. people and their religions i swear. if you wanna make fun of god feel free i don't care, if i wanna make fun of god i'm going to it's my belief and if you're willing to die for your faith in god then i'm more than willing to die for my right to make fun of your god.

people get too defensive about everything and it's just disgusting. i was actually talking to my manager tonight about how in schools with the separation of church and state they just ban everything that is even remotely offensive to anyone and it teaches these kids not to tolerate each other but to ban and exclude anything that doesn't agree with the mainstream and in fact i think they need to be the opposite especially in this day and age is not that they need to ban everything but in fact just the opposite they need to tolerate everything, that isn't harmful you know?, and teach these kids that just because it isn't what they agree with doesn't make it wrong.

it's just sickinging to know that the "free" country of these united states can still have such stupid people crawling around.

A work in progress, of course.

The Sword Dancer and Other Stories
by Eric Scott

I got lost three times on my way out to the camp, once even before I had made it outside of the Kansas City limits. I guess that's to be expected; I miss highway turns all the time even when I know where I'm going, and about all I remembered...
