Updated 3:00 p.m. 4/13/04:
I went to my job interview, and the guy who was to interview me cut out early... so, I dropped off my resume and filled out some application stuff, leaving that with my resume. I was told that since I was referred by a current employee (my friend's boyfriend), I have a good amount of experience, and since basically no one else has applied and they really need someone, I'm pretty much in. The interviewer is supposed to call me tomorrow to ask me to come in again, so I'll have to go to sleep at a decent hour and be prepared to rise early, I'm sure.
No one said anything about my lip ring as of yet, so I just have to wait to meet the decision-maker/interviewer to see if this makes a difference. I have SICK amounts of experience, and if I can run one doctor's operation single-handedly for three years, I can handle reception at a car dealership. YEAH!
Plus, my friend Tessi called me (my roommate spoke to her) and said there's an opening at her job, so I have to call her when she gets home tonight and see what she's got going on. Whoever pays me more, bring it on.
Original entry, 3:41 a.m.:
Ah, I love my wee-hours-of-the-morning journal entries. It's so nice because I then awake in the afternoon with comments already accumulating... and I loooove comments. hee
My job interview is today (technically, because it is 3:41 a.m. now), and I have my resume ready to go and my outfit all laid out for when I wake up to go in. The job pays $3 less an hour than I used to make, but it's income and I can supplement it somehow, I'll at least be able to start paying bills again. I hope they will look past my appearance (which in all reality is NOT bad, I only have one body mod that shows when I am dressed "business casual," which is my lip ring that I cannot remove on my own), respect my resume, since I have over 4 years of secretarial experience, and that's what they are hiring for, so they can see I am experienced and smart and not care about my lip ring. If they ask me, I'll say it's religious and they can't argue with that. They can also not hire me, but then that'd be un-PC of them, now wouldn't it? MUAHAHA
I have heard from my friend Brett of a band called The Rapture. "House of Jealous Lovers" is a fuckin great song. I don't think these guys are particularly talented or fabulous, but goddamn, don't you just LOVE infectious, FUN music? I critique music all the time, since I have gained half a musician's ear (from the ex being a drummer and all, he taught me a lot) and I still have half a fan's ear. Sometimes I just like music that makes me wanna dance or sing along, regardless of musical ingenuity. Check them out if you haven't heard them already, most of the stuff I got is from an album called Echoes. I have also finally listened to The Mars Volta, a band my younger brother always loved, but I had never bothered to pay much attention to. I approve! It's good stuff. My bro's got a good ear for music. (Well, I hope so, he's become somewhat of a music snob, since he is also a musician... he can sing and play guitar, and the youngest brother can play drums very well and sing. I am the only non-musical sibling. Unless you count my fabulous taste in music and my ability to listen with that musician's ear.)
Question of the Day:
Would you continue to become involved with a person, knowing that all the facts are working against you? (i.e. you have different lives, they have a child, it could be a long-distance relationship - I consider an hour or more drive long distance - and although you have a lot in common, they may not be a personality match. Just things to consider when answering me on this.) I'm very curious to hear my pals on SG give me their opinion, so PLEASE, speak up on this one!
Just for fun:
