mrrrf. not looking forward to work today. When's national nap time day?
there's two things I hate about fads. See, I'm all for some sort of homegrown happening, anyone seriously into a subject, dedication, etc., but I hate fads. Because they get spoiled by those just latching on and coasting.
I say this because on my drive home there was one of those super-modded hondas poking its nose out of a gas station halfway into the turn lane. But the thing was, it was dirty, the tinted windows were shittily done, it had some cheap looking "cruisin" sticker letters on the lower windshield, and the extra nose spoiler thing was a starkly contrasting cream color to the dingy black of the car.
Now, I don't mind some of the newfangled roadsters of the asian varieties, some of them can be very well done and full of love, but half the time they're just plain shitty. They spend a little dough here to get some decent rims at a les schwab, then hit some mass market auto parts store for some cliche stickers, a big spoiler and then a big muffler job. And then they reside in suckville.
I just don't want to see a half ass job on anything.
Then again, there are those like some of the cars at the PDX roadster show I saw, like this one that was a bright orange mitsubishi 3000s with a custom paint job, nitrous, neons everywhere, five point restraints, custom interior, ps2 and lcd screen in the dash, custom stereo, and (get this) three replica swords mounted inside (though one of them was a klingon weapon, I think). While this might say dedication, I think it drowns it out by screaming MONEY!! LOOK THE FUCK AT ME I CAN SPEND MONEY THAT'S MOST LIKELY MONEY THAT I DIDN'T EARN AT ALL BECAUSE I'M A SWEATERVEST WEARING DUMB MOTHERFUCKER WITH AN UPSIDE DOWN BACKWARDS VISOR AND CHECK OUT MY CAR BECAUSE I'M GOING TO GET SOME POONTANG WITH IT!!!!! YEAHH!!! I FUCKING RULE!!!!!!!
...
um. yes. what I'm trying to say is that I do not like the blatant use of money to go over and above the style encapsulated within the fad, therefore making it overly gaudy and fop.
So either you go too far or you don't go far enough.
Ah, yes, I see, i'm trying to expound the virtues of balance... uh... so... hey. nice ass.
ugh. time for work. everyone take it easy.

I tend to be annoyed by fads because people react strangely when I'm continuing to do something after the fad of it has long passed.
