Here is the American Pledge of Allegiance. I learned this in school, as did the vast majority of Americans.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
What exactly does this mean? Let's break it down
"I pledge allegiance"= I swear loyalty. I got your back. You are the boss. Tell me what you want me to do
"to the flag of the United States of America"= a piece of rectangular cloth. So far in this pledge a piece of cloth is our leader.
"and to the Republic for which it stands" Now we're getting somewhere. A republic is big and tough enough to command my respect and loyalty. A flag isn't but a republic most definitely is. This is really all you need of the pledge. The pledge could simply be
"I pledge allegiance to the Republic of the United States of America" the end
But NO...there's more. We are now going to talk about what our republic is all about.
"One nation" fifty (so called) states. But they aren't states. They are not independent. They are provinces. They are subservient to the republic.
"Under God" even the Big, Badass Republic has an alpha male. The republic in UNDER God. God is the home office. Not "Goddess" mind you, this God has a VERY Big Dick.
"indivisible"= Can't break this up. Once you join you are in forever. No backing out. deal with it.
So far this is a pretty grim pledge. We are swearing to a piece of cloth, we do a bitch-slap on the states to keep they ass in line. And we find out that even though the Republic is super awesome and powerful, even it kisses God's ass.
But there is one more line.
"With liberty and justice for all" HOT SPIT!!! AN ESCAPE CLAUSE!!!! They aren't providing liberty and justice for all (like poor black people in new Orleans, or Iraqis or enemy combatants), so I don't have to be loyal HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
