So I've been trying to memorize my new poem for the slam tonight. I don't think I'm gonna be able to do it. I am probably going to have to take paper to the stage with me.

I consider this a failure.

Especially as I tell every poet I help "Get it off page!"

Tonight I will be told, "Teacher, teach thyself"

and I'll deserve it.
