This Feels Like Slavery......
So in yet another display of why the company I work for is so good and an "Investor In People" can't forget that bit, they've decided that they're not going to pay all the people who've done overtime at the overtime rate and they're just going to get paid the normal rate. This is just yet another of the brilliant moves by "The Management" to endear themselves to the workforce. Luckily this doesn't effect me 'cause I've never been foolish enough to bother with the whole overtime thing, I spend enough time in the God forsaken place as it is. If they think people are going to be staying 'til they finish what they're doing at home time I think they're in for a nasty shock. As soon at the clock turns "xx:xx" I have a feeling there's going to be a lot stuff being dropped where it is as everyone leaves.
Abandon Ship!
So in the last month 5 people have left my department at work which should be an indicator of how well things are going at the moment between an okay but clueless department manager and mindbogglingly stupid senior management the place is literally falling apart. The best part the combined hours of the people that left are roughly 110 the combined hours of the new staff starting this week 30! that's right about 10-12 hours a week each. Behold the genius of that I can just see them sat in the boardroom now
"Next on the agenda, what do we do about our demoralised workforce?"
"I have an idea, we get them to do even more work"
"You know what I think you've got something there"
"I've got this idea about overtime too"
I think the only thing that keeps you there is the fact that pretty much everyone else hates it too. Another thing I was told was they're wanting someone to train up from scratch as a baker apparently this is because an experienced baker would know that the pay is shit compared to pretty much anywhere else and that's why they aren't looking for someone with experience. Oh what fun
Stormbringer (edit 13th July)
So we've had an auditor in to check everything's legally compliant the last 2 days so all the "Management" have been going apeshit since nothing in our store is legally compliant really. So they're expecting everyone to do things "properly" while he's here so they can fool him into thinking the place isn't a shithole that's falling apart with a "management team" that don't have enough collective intelligence to make a cup of tea nevermind run a store with 500 employees. The warehouse is a fucking mess there's shit crammed everywhere 'cause one of the "managers" suddenly realised that maybe you're not supposed to have stuff infront of the fireexits! There's stuff rotting away literally 'cause I haven't had time to get rid of it so there's bread from the 9th July just piled up festering away but hey at least the rats'll have something to eat . Everyone in the bakery is so sick of being there with no staff that there's literally stormclouds in the place the atmosphere is that bad and our tool of a manager keeps saying "Things are going to get better" to the point where if he says it one more time I just might punch him in the face and walk out. I realise all I seem to be doing lately is bitching about my job but as they say stick to what you're good at. I'm off for a stiff drink methinks.
