Doh!
So my TVCR kind of died the other day much to my surprise, I was just getting ready to watch NCIS which I taped the night before whilst having my breakfast only to be greeted by an absolute lack of anything upon pressing the power button which kind of threw me out somewhat. My initial reaction was a typical guy reaction when something fails to work start fiddling with it in some delusional "I know how to fix it" kind of way. After playing with the switches and changing the fuse and still getting no signs of life from my now ex TVCR I realised that I'd need to get a new one. "To Argos the land of consumer tat and primary colours" since I wasn't exactly minted at the time I had to get the cheaper of the two that I wanted, new TVCR in hand I went home with utmost haste only to find out much to my behest that said TVCR isn't 100% compatible with NTSC so now all my region 1 dvds play in black and white which is most displeasing to say the least, so now I've got to get another TVCR at some point. Doh!
Bah, Humbug.
God I hate Christmas, I think my main reason for this is because of my job. To me Christmas just equals even more stupid people getting in my way and proving that just because you've got opposable thumbs it doesn't mean you're in anyway intelligent. It's kind of funny really since a lot of people I know at work are muslims so they don't bother with the whole Christmas thing and they just stand there in amazement at all the hordes of people stocking up with supplies like some survivalist nutcase in a bunker somewhere waiting for amageddon. People nearly end up having full on knock down drag out fights over loaves of bread just 'cause the store is shut for one day! "What are we going to do" says the mass of consumer junkies.
The Odyssey
So it took me 21/2 hours! to get home from work the other day which is a bit much even for me. I discovered much to my displeasure that torrential rain + darkness + rushhour traffic = 90+ minutes of mindgrindingly slow bus journey. Being somewhat pissed off at the fact my usual 20 minute journey to Leeds took almost 5 times longer than normal I decided to get the train home. after arriving at the platform it suddenly dawned on me that standing on a platform in Leeds train station is probably colder than than the slopes of Jotenheim, it seems to conjure up a bonechilling wind even if there's no wind at all outside. After finishing at 16:30 I got home for 19:00 in a somewhat wet and displeased manner.
