Introducing Ratfink
So the other day my department manager left to go work in another store and I'm pretty down about it really since she was the first manager I've worked with who was actually a human being and proved that contrary to the popular adage "you can never be friends with your manager" that it is actually possible to be good friends with your boss. Her replacement is this guy called Richard who looks like he's just finished school and has shoulder length dark grey greasy hair in this trendy mullet style. Apparently when he went for dinner the other day instead of sitting with the rest of the team he went and sat with all the managers on "The Management" table which is a great way to ingratiate yourself with the team after replacing someone who was really popular. I don't know why but I came up with the name Ratfink ( from a simple if catchy Misfits song) and it just kind of stuck so now everyone uses it instead of his real name. Rich who I work with feels quite nauseous at the fact that he's got the same name as our new idiot manager, he strikes me as one of those "Leave My Mark" types by which I mean he's going to start changing things that don't need changing just so he can say "That was me" although he more than likely won't say that if things go wrong like they inevitably will. Everyday I'm at work just feels really weird now all my old work friends are there but it feels like I'm working somewhere new. I get the distinct impression he doesn't really know what he's doing at all and I'm not the only one that thinks that way, I've got the feeling there might be a mass exodus at this rate if he doesn't learn some people skills and realise that the people I work with actually know what they're doing, I mean for fucks sake we're the "Centre Of Excellence" our department is the best in the whole region.

And if you are a Centre of Excellence, it seems really quite bizarre to tempt fate with changes.
thanks for your comment on my journal. yeah, that teacher really sucked, but i think i scared her enough. i may only be 5ft, but when it comes to someone being nasty to my kids i can grow to 6ft suddenly. i wonder if being the popular kid also has it's drawbacks, you are expected to perform at all times and say the smartass things in class all leading to a distraction for everyone.
