ANOTHER DAY IN MY SO CALLED LIFE
So I've just had the worst weekend at work, having to work Wednesday through to Monday is bad enough. Things just seemed to go from bad to worse to why the fuck do I still work here? over the space of 3 days. Working Saturday is always a pain in the ass because it's so busy ( one of the joys of retail) but I had the extra special pleasure of being dragged away from my department and being stuck on a checkout 3 times in as many hours by the store manager Tim who is one of my 7 managers (that's right 7) and believe me there is nothing more tedious than listening to the constant inane banter and smalltalk that people seem so insistent upon when buying groceries, I don't want to know about your new curtains or what the weather's like I just want to go home and try and erase my job from mind 'til the next day. It really annoys me when people assume I'm somehow inferior to them just 'cause I happen to be serving them. I'm not an ignorant or rude person but I don't see the point in meaningless smalltalk, it's like some pointless ritual that's seemingly perpetuated by every generation. So the upshot of this was I didn't get half my jobs done Saturday night so they carried over to Sunday where I'm on my own despite the fact the store is just as busy as on Saturdays but since it's time1/2 they don't want to have to pay for more than person. I rapidly stopped caring about all the things I was obviously not going get the time to do and just concentrated on trying to feed the hordes of rabid consumers that were running rampant through the aisles like junkies looking for a fix. The snowballing effect was still evident on Monday when Jo my department manager had a big freak out about the state of things and wanted to know why things were like they were and the whole blame game started up again, I blame Tim for sticking me on a checkout and he says "customers come first" and everyone goes quiet until the next time it happens.
FRUITS OF MY LABOUR
So I got paid on Friday and thought pretty much the same thing I think every month after I get paid "fuck it I'm going to get some new stuff" so I got some more additions to my ever increasing library, since the dvla seems insistent on proving how incompetent they are at the whole bureaucracy thing I haven't even thought about saving up for driving lessons yet. So this is what I got:
Exiles
I like Exiles I think it's one of the better titles by Marvel just for the variety of characters and story.
Slaine
I don't have any other Slaine stuff but I thought Clint Langley's art just looked excellent and the character is one of those that can either be really good or bad depending on the writer, much like Marvel's Punisher.
Roguetrooper
I'm a big Rogue Trooper fan so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there were 2 books I hadn't got yet.
Roguetrooper
Hellblazer
I'm a big fan of Hellblazer I've got the entire Hellblazer library and the newest book by Mike Carey is a quality addition to the set and just as a bonus it also features Swampthing.
