I was driving to a relative's house last night, and got to test out my stunt driving skills (not that I wanted to.) I was cruising along a rural, two lane road, and came up over a blind ridge. As I did, there were cars stopped where they shouldn't have been stopped. As I slammed on the brakes, it was clear at this point that my car was not going to come to a stop before hitting the car in front of me. So, I calmly navigated my car off of the road, did a slightly sideways powerslide through someone's front yard (between the car and a tree), and then returned to the road unscaved. It felt a little like the Dukes of Hazzard, but I'm just glad to be alive.


Then, when I got to my relative's, they showed me this tree that was about 25 yards away from the house. It was hit by lightning on Saturday night.

It was the stangest thing I've seen in a while. Lightning just ripped a perfect chunk out of this tree, six inches wide, from the tippy top to the bottom. Crazy mother nature!
