*Updates by the end of the blog, just scroll :)
Yes, not even 24h since my post wishing you all a happy St. Patrick's day, and here's another post now to ask for a little help and positive thoughts. You see this (not so) little one beside me? He's who I'm talking about....
Miles is a sweet 5 year old cat, who was rescued by me 2 years ago after I saw him being run over by some a**holes driving at high speed on a Saturday night who didn't even bother to notice what they'd done. Luckily, after a long recovery he's fine and is the sweetest cat ever (you can literally do anything to him, he'll accept it haha).
Now, only "click to see more" if you're ok with reading some details about what's happened with him this week. There aren't "strong" descriptions, but some people can be really sensitive. If you're not gonna read that, just know he's at the vet, recovering and waiting for exam results.
For anyone who reads this: I'd appreciate your positive thoughts towards him, I just really hope he recovers soon and that whatever he has is not anything too serious 😖
For anyone else who wants to help with a little more: I usually make my sets which are not shot for SG only available to my subs, but this Saint Patrick's homeshot set (38 pics + a sexy teaser video) will be available for any SG member who wants to help by tipping me here, and I'll use the money to help pay for the vet bill + medications (I still have NO idea how much this all will cost, but whatever help comes, it's always appreciated!)
I had planned to go live today here and celebrate St. Patrick's with you, but I really have no energy or my mind right to do so 😔
Anyways, thank you all so much!
And Miles: you'll be fine, sweetheart 🖤
UPDATE MARCH 17TH - 8hours since I've made the post: We just got a call from the vet. For now we know they've cleared the obstruction and soon they'll "clean" his bladder to get everything out and that he has urinary infection. One of today's exams suggests that he may have a kidney disease (which can happen with age), but it can also be because of the earlier obstruction he had. They'll test his blood tomorrow to check about this (I just hope that he doesn't have any disease and that his blood results are ok tomorrow!)
UPDATE MARCH 19TH: I've been to the vet earlier today. Miles is ok, not feeling much pain like before, however he's not any willing to eat anything (he is very alert, being at a place he's not used to) - I even tried to offer him some tune (the doc allowed) but he wasn't interested at all. His urine still has some blood in it and that's one of the reasons he still can't go home. He has an infection and he was also diagnosed with cystitis. His kidneys are ok, and they have only found some things like "gains of sand" cause they're not big enough to be a stone, so he's being treated for all that. They're going to keep treating and see how he reacts, so hopefully his urine will go back to the colour it should be; they'll also run more tests soon another day to see if some bad results he had change to a better one. He may have had a simple infection, but he may also have a kidney disease which may cause him to be frequently medicated and be fed a special food, but let's see how it goes... Here's a pic of him today (I removed the part where you can see the stuff connected to him, just in case)
And also the pic of how his urine is - the color of it - and I've hidden so you only see it if you chose to:
UPDATE MARCH 20TH: HE'S FINALLY EATEN BY HIMSELF! YAAAAAAAAY!!! We've just spoken to the vet (on the phone today only), and she says he's eaten well and by himself today, finally <3 and also said he's been walking around his "cage" (idk another name for that place lol) and that his pee is less "bloody" :)
She also told us that they'll try and remove the urine bag and check if he pees well by himself, and if so, he might be allowed to come back home and just go there for checkups and new tests :D
Thanks to all who have been positive towards the situation, it means a lot to me (and to him, too, I'm sure of it!!!)
UPDATE MARCH 21ST: Just talked the vet and Miles may come back home next morniiiing!!! He's eating well by himself, more active and also peeing by himself (and he also pooped lol he hadn't since Monday, so a big victory!). We'll call the vet in the morning to check if he's really ready to come back home and we'll also get to know the bill (and pay for it - it's gonna be amazing hahaha). Of course, it's not over, he's coming home, but will be doing more exams soon, to have a final diagnosis and also check if he really recovered. Fingers crossed!!!
UPDATE MARCH 22ND: Nope, not home yet, HOWEVER he's taken some tests today and the results have been a lot more positive!!!! He's not home yet, they're still making sure he's doing fine enough and tomorrow he has another ultrasound examination to see how his bladder and kidneys are, and then they will decide if he's actually fine to come back home. Keep up with the positive thoughts, guys!!!
UPDATE MARCH 24TH: HE'S HOME!!! We picked him up yesterday night and I was too exausted to - come update here, but now here I am, yaaaay! So£¢¢¢¢¢¢¢ (sorry, Miles came type a little, wanted to say hi lol) he's gonna be this whole month under treatment, with a different food and taking some medicine, and we'll hope that it all gets him better so that he won't need to undergo any kind of surgery. That's how he looks like now, with a liiiiittle less hair than before
UPDATE MARCH 26TH: checkup visit today. Miles is ok, but still feels some discomfort in the bladder. Another checkup happening on Monday to see if it will stop, otherwise it can mean he has something else (which is not good, at all). But he's taking his medicine and all, so I think it'll be ok!
UPDATE MARCH 27TH: Miles ended up vomiting twice at night, so we went back to the clinic and he got medicated. The stuff he's taking at home can be really strong, so we're adding one extra medicine for him to take in the morning before anything else, so it makes his organs more prepared for the others. He's also peeing a little as he sleeps, but it's probably because of what they had to do to him while staying at the clinic, doctor says it should stop soon :))
UPDATE APRIL 2ND: He's finally doing better and accepting his new food. We already stopped atibiotics and anti inflamatory medicines, so I think that is another factor that helped him get his appetite back. But actually, for the last few days, I've been mixing some grains of his new food with some tuna, which he loves, and I've been feeding him with a spoon (how spoiled), but it was because I had to make sure he'd eat his food too and not only the tuna around it haha also, he seems to be in the process of not peeing while sleeping snymore, hoooowever I woke up at 6am today when I moved my left foot and found an extra cold and wet spot on the bed (how cool was that haha). I was shooting some custom content today and he stayed with me in a corner of the bed, so this is him today:
UPDATE APRIL 6TH: We had an appointment today, again for another checkup. Guess what? It's all fine so far <3 now, we just gotta keep some medicine until the end of the month and his diet too, then he's taking exams again, which will be the moment when we'll officially know if he's recovered from all he had, or if he has something chronic. But I have high hopes for him :)
UPDATE APRIL 28TH: Just got Miles's new exam results. Still some things to do, even though he's thankfully a loooot better. For the next 4 weeks, we'll be visiting the clinic twice a week for him to get some medication. After that, repeating exams again, if the things that aren't good yet are still there, it'll mean his thing is chronic, and MAAAAN, I really hope it's not :(
UPDATE JUNE 4TH: Well well. Yup, already June and we're still on the run. So let me update you with the lastest things, covering from last Friday to today. Since my last update, nothing different happened, he's been acting normal, peeing and pooping just fine, eating ok too, so just following treatment. Last week had been his last week getting medication before doing exams again, so on Friday we went to the clinic and he had an ultrassound and they also took some blood sample. Monday was went we went back to see results and, unfortunately, it was still not how expected. Now his liver is officially involved so he started taking two pills a day to treat that, and we'd change and go to the clinic only once a week for medication, and also another homeopathic one. Then, back at home, he had some food as usual around 3pm and I started working. I finished at around 10pm, I was about to start making my dinner when he came to the laudry room to pee and he just was inside his box, but peed (a lot, at least) outside of it! Though it had been an isolated situation, and as they were hungry and was their dinner time too, I decided to give them food first. But I noticed he was kinda strange: he was too quiet sittin on a matress in my living room, his pupils dilated different from usual when he's just relaxing, a kinda scared face and when I poured food for them, he totally ignored it. I went closer to talk to him, even got some treat he really loves eating, and he ignored it 100%. It was like we didn't went to move at all. So I know something was really wrong. I got up, came back to the kitchen to at least have my dinner and he came once again to the litter box, and even though it was another one, he did the same: entered the box, but peed while stading, instead of moving his butt down a little. And to finish it all, he then sat on my chair and when we tried to move him a bit, he hissed a little (and anyone who knows him, knows that if he's doing it, it's because something is not ok, as he's the most relaxed and peaceful cat ever).
*Not happy at all, as clearly visible on his face haha
So we took him to the vet at night, where the vet acknowledged he was in strong pain and also had a bit of fever, so she gave him some good medicine to help ease it at least until the next morning, when I'd come back with him for further examination. He wasn't feeling that horrible pain anymore, and on Tuesday the doc asked for a urine test called urine culture. Since then we'd been waiting for results and today we got it. Went there a couple of hours ago and the new addition to his problems was: a freaking strong bacteria called Klebsiella, which is why he had such a horrible pain on Monday night. So for now, new conclusion is: keep taking the medicines mentioned before + a new pill we're getting made and will start giving him next Monday, when it's ready. Next steps: 5 days of this new pill, then urine test again, if results still show the bacteria, we repeat it and so on. For now, that's all, let's keep the treatment going and hopes high up.
*this is him waiting for the medicine to take effect so we could go back home
Anyways, thank you all so much for all the help, messages and positiveness! I'll soon write another blog about him and start some promotions to help raise some money for it all - and I'll post on my page a short video of him from yesterday, when we went to pick him up, as I can't put videos in blogs :D
*OMG, longest blog I've ever kept here lol
