I am off today and I am not doing what I had planned to do. But that is ok. I am car-less today and that makes me cranky. I get upset when I can't do something and then I want to do it more and more! Especially with cars, and I think that is because I could not drive until I turned 18. The big bummer on that is that I skipped a grade in school and I did not turn 18 until the fall/winter after I had graduated high school!!!! Yep.....it is true.
I talked to my mom today and tomorrow is her birthday!!! My brother came over to hook up a new DVD player for her. Hers went kaplooey. I was on the phone with her as he did it and was explaining to my mom and dad how to do stuff since it was an HD one. It was funny listening to the interaction! My mom started laughing and I asked her what was going on. She said that my brother was showing them how to set things for HiDef on the TV and my dad asked how he knew that their TV was HiDef. My brother points and shows him the HD on the front of the TV. My dads says "ooohhhhhh, I thought that meant HEAVY DUTY"!!!!????!!! Then he said, "Well, that TV must weigh about 400 pounds"!!! I cracked up.
I am still super twitterpated!!!!
Ok...I promised Lay a recipe and I am just going to post it in here as someone else might like it! This reminds me of Christmas, but they don't really fit the normal christmas fare!
Strawberry Candy
2 cups almost finely chopped pecans
1can sweetened condensed milk
1 6 oz package of strawberry Jell-o
1 package of coconut
1 tsp of vanilla
red sugar
green sugar
almond slivers
green food coloring
Mix the chopped pecans, condensed milk, Jell-o, vanilla, and coconut in a bowl with a spoon until well mixed. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour or even better, overnight.
Place the slivered almonds in a ziplock bag with a few drops of green food coloring. Shake until coated and then place on paper towels to dry.
Fill a bowl with red sugar and one with green sugar. When the mixture is chilled, take a regular spoonful and roll it in your hands to make a strawberry shape. Then roll it in the red sugar EXCEPT for the top. Dip the top in the green sugar. Stick an almond sliver in the top and you have strawberry candy!!!!
