Ohhhhh, the slight pain in my left hamstring and calf. I got back about an hour ago from my first ultimate frisbee game. That shit is amazing. I enjoyed watching videos of extreme plays on youtube but they don't compare to actually being on the field. The initial plan was to observe as a friend of mine had invited me to watch his team play. Sensing my growing interest, a few team members asked if I wanted to join after halftime. I was a little hesitant as I wasn't prepared with the right equipment to play. Namely, sports shorts and cleats. It didn't take much to convince me to play.
The rules seem simple enough to understand but the mix of excitement and nervousness made them harder to commit to memory. Plus, I tend to forget a lot when in play as everything goes by quickly. I haven't been all that active this summer and playing tonight confirmed that fact 2000%. The good thing is that I wasn't completely winded. This was the kick in the butt I needed to get back running and cycling more. I'll leave the gym work to the colder months. For now I'll just need to remember to stretch before bed and tomorrow morning first thing.
I'm excited for next week's game.
