The day has finally come and gone.
Getting out of bed this morning was a long process. I woke up at 8 but really got out of bed at 8:37. It's not that I was lazy or anything but more due to the fact that my appointment was less than 8 hours away. Yes girls and boys, my tattoo appointment.
The day went by at different speeds. Sometimes time was running slow and other times I didn't even see it fly by.
Not wanting to miss a beat, I got to the shop a good 15 minutes ahead of time. My good intentions didn't really pay off as he wasn't in his shop. Went out for a coffee and danish. I can't blame the dude, he'd been inking for the better part of the day. Needed to replenish his batteries.
He arrives, I walk in and we chit chat a few as he gets his gear going. I see him go through his routine of sterilizing his surroundings, setting up his "doorbells", installing his needles and every other thing a tattoo artist goes through. As he was doing so, my curiosity got the best of me so I shot him a few questions. I now know a little more about the origins of a tattooist's main tool and the way it functions. I'll have to do more research/ask more questions at another time.
20 minutes later and the stencil was on my arm. See picture below. Not the best quality (taken from my phone)
With that done the hard part was next. Getting that ink under my skin.
After an hour and 45 minutes, the main outlining was finally done. I personally had had my fair share of pain for one day. Specially this being my first tattoo.
Extra stencil ink cleaned off, he wrapped my arm like a baked potato and sent me off home to recuperate. Getting my tshirt, coat and backpack on was a slight challenge.
Here are some shots from a few minutes ago (taken 3 hours after the fact).

The piece isn't done yet. There is still some shading to be done and some more detail around my wrist and shoulder.
Going to sleep tonight will be interesting...
stinab:
Yay for new sleeves! It is fun working with them. Theyre nuts!
