So, the exercise is over. Finally. Interesting at some levels. Quite a departure from the first events of this sort I did a long time ago when we were "playing" the defense of northeastern Bavaria against the Czech and Soviet armies as they would try to come in south of Hof. My little corner of that scenario started out as a large wooded hill on the left flank where I was supposed to screen and do a counter-recon fight against the first wave of the onslaught. If we were lucky we were to take a c rack at the second wave too.
The Wall came down before I left Europe. It was pretty strange to take the train through our planned positions into Czechoslovakia for a long weekend in Prague in early 90.
