My friend Pamelyn came into town with here new beau, Kevin. The Church was also in town and Pam and Kevin are fans so a little retro 80's pleasure couldn't be a bad thing. Big surprise. The Church played a good bit of new stuff and I have to say I was impressed and pleasantly surprised. It was good to see them not falling back heavily on the 80's. If you liked The Church then, however, you will still appreciate what their doing. If you just want to hear their "greatest hits" you will be a bit disappointed. Two and a half hours and three encores after they took the stage they departed with everyone still wanting more, including me - not one of their biggest fans but, perhaps one of their newest. I'll add a few pix from the show soon.

Good to chat with you today and hear of all your progress in the moving plans. I'm also pleased to be able to play a role in easing your transition, hopefully.
And thanks for the comments in my journal tonight as well. I revisited it briefly in an attempt to try and remove the apparent whiff of desperation (or "depressive-resignation-to-a-less-than-Utopian-existence", if you prefer) that must emanate from it...but I was unsuccessful. I'll let it stand a few days as a record of one instance of my being truly brutally honest and revelatory online and see if anyone cares. My guess is that there will be a resounding silence, but I'd love to be surprised.
But to answer the larger question you pose in rebuttal, YES! There are TONS of amazing things to do here, and I feel that overall L.A. gets a really unfairly bad rap as a culturally bereft cesspool. My comments were intended more as commentary on certain segments of my peers' pursuits that I feel woefully out of alignment with, not as an indictment of the entire city (or those friends' worth). View them in that context and see if my position isn't clearer.
Thanks for the reminder to visit DT for a laugh, though. I did, and I had a few..including one at your bad joke!
Okay, I'm off. The time stamp you see on this post is not an error: I am in vampire mode and can't sleep, but am about to try again. I'll call later on and hear the rest of your story.
Oh, and at dinner tonight Jim gave me some more details about his potential upcoming gigs and asked if I'd mix them. I told him yes, if you'd boom for me, of course. He has meetings on two of them tomorrow, so we may know something very soon. One of them is likely coinciding with your arrival out here! Wouldn't THAT be cool?
Okay, for real now: bye.
