WELL - let me tell you all about Maryland . . . .
I paid $120 for this trip, and was told that after helping to fund raise our price would be signifigantly lower - didn't happen for me but did happen for other people and was told sorry we can only offer that price to some people. OK fine. (and I fund raised and some of them didnt)
The bus, the words used to describe it - Party bus, leather couches and flat screen tv's, the pictures of this so called bus - looked awesome. I wish that bus actually showed up to pick us up (maybe the bus being on time would be nice too). This bus had limo seating (which means around the bus) for only 20 people - we booked 27 people because the bus that was supposed to get us was for 30. Nice right? - not done yet. The bus smelled like the worst dirty socks and armpits - and the floor was wet and squishy from something.
The group lunch I paid for in the 120, MEAT sandwiches. Absolutely no veggies in site, me and 2 other girls were very upset - they know we dont eat meat. (one girl for religous purposes even) When we brought this to the directors attention he said I guess you'l have to pick it off and have a cheese sandwich. NASTY salami residue - BARF. I had an apple w/ pnut butter. Thankfully I brought it.
Ok - we get there, LATE! the class started with out us . . . try to think positive! The class was supposed to be on styling LONG hair - weddings and proms and such. We were told we were recieving long hair manequins to keep as part of this trip. The manequin heads didn't have long hair at all - in fact they were just plain'ol manequins. The class was practically useless, thank god the Maryland students were nice enough to share their long haired manequins.
Ok - class was kind of a joke - only learned 3 styles. Tonight will be better. We were able to stroll about Frederick MD and we went to a resturaunt called the Firestone. I had brie and fruit and many many many beers. It was awesome. Dinner was the best part of the trip.
The last speaker of the night was good, but we were told that we would get a copy of his book to ask him to sign. They gave him the box of books and had him sign all of them then threw them in storage on the bus - half the fun of a book signing is actually getting a moment to say hi and maybe shake their hand or take a picture. LAME.
I put a stop payment on my check when we went to dinner. The trip was not what I paid for. I don't mean to complain and I am trying to see this as a positive learning experience - but it is REALLY REALLY hard.
