happy birthday solomon. i know you won't see this, but anywhere i can celebrate the day you came into my life, i will.

short story: Solomon, my son, my reason to continue to work as hard as i do. without him, i am sure i would have left this fucked up world a long time ago. anyway, i digress. he was born on october 20th, 1997. i was so proud and filled with all kinds of new emotions, only to find out he was very sick. he had developed a strep b infection, due to my ex wife being in labour for over 24 hours. they admited him to the neonatal intensive care unit, with the hopes he would pull through. they weren't sure he was going to make it. at that very moment i was completely at the mercy of allah, and i prayed. as time went by, he grew stronger and ended up fighting through and becoming the strong soul he is today. he came home on halloween. prior to this i wasnt a big fan of halloween, but since it is my favorite day of the year. so long story short, i take these next 11 days leading up to the 31st to celebrate the gift that i was granted, and try to remember i have something to push me to continue this struggle, called life. thank you solomon. i love you.

madeleine:
Yes, I lived in both Denver and Phoenix. And I agree...the Black Dahlia Murder did put on a pretty good live show. I'm not into their music all that much - or Hatebreed's, for that matter - but it was fun watching them.
