So visited my mom today, and got "The Talk" you know the one, "The will is here, the deed to the house is here, if the surgery goes to hell and I become a vegetable..." Yeah wonderful dinner conversation. I had actually stopped thinking about it for a few days before this.
Still I understand the purpose, the hell we went through trying to stop treatment for my father was enough to get me to make a record of the conversation on my iPhone with the TV playing the six o'clock news in the background. Started the recording with the start of the news then panned back and had mom record the rest of our discussion so hopefully if the worst should happen then there is something to help her wishes become reality.
Most of you are significantly younger than me I have little idea if you have experienced the loss of a parent, or cancer in a parent, but it has really been a difficult couple of years for me. To say my father was an inspiration for me is an understatement of the largest magnitude. He was a paragon of virtue, his funeral service was a parade of his volunteer work people testifying to his strength of character, and just extolling his works in general. He was unable to work many jobs due to disability, he had kidney failure, and a number of other ailments but he made up for all of this by doing volunteer work for various charities and church groups, he was a certified accountant and gave his services for free to anyone that asked. He was free with his free time, never turned away someone he was capable of helping. Needed some cash? Sure if he could afford it, (sometimes even when he couldn't) he would hand it over and NEVER expect repayment. He was big on giving people second chances, my uncle, convicted criminal (motorcycle gangs) couldn't get work, he paid for his trucking school so he had skills, and helped him get a pardon so he could travel across the border into the USA again.
If I even become half the man he was... well I'm still half the man, but I could proudly call myself a man.
Now that all that morose shit is out of the way here's something to make you SMILE AND LAUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
