What a memorable weekend.
Saturday - Wolf Creek.
Sunday - 2.3km swim around Cockatoo Island.
Wow.
....Blubbers aside and they werent that bad, come on! this has become one of our favourite swims. Weve waxed lyrical about the industrial backdrop, the urban industrial landscape against which this swim takes place. It is truly spectacular. Swim along ageing, creaking timber wharves, amongst giant derricks, towering cranes that sit guarding the ghosts of the naval dockyard and the goal that occupied Cockatoo Island for generations. From the high tips of the derricks, their hooks sit low at the end of long cables. They swing heavily in the light breeze, which sings uneasily around the cables like the restless spirits.
The finish - Dawn Fraser Pool
