Hi there everyone,
It seems like such a long time since I updated my journal, so I thought I'd better write something down.
I made it back from Turkey in one piece. What an amazing place it is, I stayed in Dalyan a small town about two hours from Izmir. It was such a beautiful place, mountains, lake and sea. It is a protected area so there are no high rise buildings and the beach was completely building free to allow the turtles to lay their eggs in peace.
Listening to the call to prayer from the mosque everyday reminds you where you are. I found I couldn't get to sleep until I heard the morning call.
I took a boat to the Lake one night with my friends, we watched the Sun go down and a harvest moon rise. The lake was so quite, eerily so. We went swimming before Ozman the Captain cooked us dinner. I don't think I have felt that much peace in a long time.
The local rock bar (cunningly name The Rock Bar) threw me a birthday party, which was incredible generous for people who had only met me the day before. We ate cake and drank all the Wiki Waki Woo's I could stomach.
I have the say the people I met were all very friendly, easy to talk to. I shared a Raki or two with a very drunk local fisherman. I think he was trying to be romantic towards me but my turkish language skills are very limited to say the least.
Now I am back, I'll continue as I have before.
Love to you all
P.S. Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. X
Edited: I just thought I'd add this picture of Amsterdam, it was taken by a very good friend of mine. I really like it
