i sent THIS email to Galaxy Cinemas/Cineplex Odeon when i came hoem from a night out with my mom tonight...
"Hello,
My name is Katie Dawydchak and I just got home from the 9:50 showing of "Ray" at Galaxy Cinemas in Peterborough Ontario on November 7th 2004. I would love to say that after waiting to see this movie for a while, it was an enjoyable experience, but I can't. You see about 45 minutes towards the end of the movie a clearly intoxicated man trespassed into the theater, sat down, and began talking loudly to the audience and making racist jokes towards the screen. Not ONLY did the man have an open canister of alcohol, he then began to smoke a cigarette in the theater. I myself am allergic to cigarette smoke and normally dont have to worry about exposure in a non-smoking environment. By this time I was furious and proceeded to locate a manager or someone of authority to help me. After 10 minutes of walking around the lobby, I found NO ONE. With no one outside the theatre, it was accessible to anyone who felt like walking in.
Frustrated, I went back to theater 3 just in time for the closing credits and to get my jacket from my mother, whom I was treating to a movie. As we exited the theater, I came upon a man who identified himself as the night janitor and directed me to the office of the theater manager. I explained my disappointment (as did another lady) and very sympathetically she offered my mother and I 2 guest vouchers.
I am upset because I paid a premium price for 2 adult tickets and concession food hoping to receive a premium movie experience in return. I didnt get that experience and there was no one around to make sure that I did. Its unfair as a paying customer to have obnoxious non-paying patrons waltz into the movie and act like idiots. Why should I have to pay and sit quietly when he can trespass and be a jerk?
The vouchers were a nice thought but if people can be obnoxious and smoke without consequence, I dont want to use them. Thankfully this individual was only being rude; however I dont want to be around when the next one gets violent. I dont feel safe in your theatre. I would hope that Galaxy Cinemas and Cineplex Odeon would address this security issue."

What an incredibly irresponsible place. Thankfully nothing happened.
