I'm trying to learn guitar. It's going slowly, probably because of my lack of attention span, no structured lessons, and no real direction. But I learned to slowly play the intro to Kyoto Now! by Bad Religion. It's entirely made up of power chords (I love punk), so that makes it easy.
The point of that intro was to talk about the Danelectro FAB Metal pedal I bought the other day. Combine the power of METAL and power chords and anything you play is goddamned gold. Seriously. I could sit here messing with power chords ALL DAY. I did, for the most part yesterday.
If you're wondering about my axe, and I know you are, it's a Mako LS-3. The company went under some time back, but it's a solid instrument (according to Jeff, anyway). I just need to get a bit of work done on it (specifically on the output jack), and it'll be ready for rock. I won't be, but it will, for whenever I catch up with it.
I only wish it had a whammy bar. Because Guitar Hero taught me how fun that shit is.

So could a lot of very very wealthy rock guitarists. Dunno many punk dudes who are into the whammy bar thing. That was always more of the wanky metal guy thing. haha.
Rise Above by Black Flag's a good guitar tune. Might be above the beginner level.. but if you can get it down, it's hella fun to play all the time.
Rock on!
