Thursday, Work 6:30-close. Strange weather, too cool. Swimming Pool 70 degrees. 8 days.
It is 3 a.m. I keep pretending I'm going to go to bed earlier. Then I just go to bed when I want and forget about it.
Today my Singer Sewing maching from 1948 drove me nuts for awhile. Threading it and using it are still new concepts to me. My 82 year old grandmother is the only one around who knows how to fix any problem and it's something else to watch her figure out why it doesn't work when it doesn't work.
Unfortunately when she's not around it all trial and error and an hour and a half of frustration.
Speaking of frustration. What's with people who get paid to tell other people no. I swear this man I was dealing with today wanted me to take his "no" personally and kept repeating himself. After I got the drift of what he was saying, I realized he was just going to keep saying it. I couldn't understand why we were still talking to each other and decided to hang up the phone.
Good call, some people make you want to go out and do things which are not very nice, or legal, or ethical.
The good news is, the local skate shop (DMBC) will re-grip my longboard for about $15. All I need to do is take the old grip tape off before I bring it in.
I'm combatting the lonliness I may encounter in the wilderness of single life with art projects.
Right now I'm anal retentively cutting and pasting images and photos on the bottom of my longboard. After inhaling copious amounts of spray adhesive and covering the entire bottom in a collage of things I so desire, I'm going to seal that sucker and protect it for a year to come (longboards wear down quick when you ride em eh).
I've been doing it for days, and I think I'm taking too long because I'd rather be riding.
Next time: "Mark Pezzi is a Player", Melissa's new job as a Special Needs worker, The drive-thru love poll and much more!
nice things,
m.
Friday August 6th 2004 Minus 3 days and counting.
What I've Seen
CITY OF GOD - This film does not exagerate when it says "One of the best films you'll ever see".
If you haven't seen it, maybe you should.
If you have seen it and you liked it, check out BALKAN CABERET an equally as enjoyable film set in Belgrade.
Double Bill
Check out CITY OF GOD and BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA together in the same night. Both movies have sex, guns, drinking/drugs, and characters named Benny. It's an oldie, but it will make you say Sam Peckinpah is a Freak! in a good way.
What I've Heard
What I've heard this week was enough to make the paint peel, the walls collapse, and the foundation crawl.
Luckily, my building is a monument to good-old fashioned craftmanship, and it won't be knocked down.
FLEETWOOD MAC - RUMOURS
The Quintessential get over a broken heart, learn to love, learn to let go album.
If they done you wrong; send them a copy of all we need is understanding by Tina and ike Turner and don't talk to them for at least a month.
Then listen to Fleetwood Mac and get to work.
What I've read
What I've read has been between the lines,
and if you don't read between the lines you'll end up looking at the pictures of what could have been instead of what is.
Keep hope alive,
m.
