I just saw a great north Korea film on snagfilms
They mention how NK portrays the US as such an evil. The guy said something to the effect of: they talk so bad about US but they are the ones that the world is so mad at that got me thinking ~ I wonder what the world does think about NK? Does the world hate them? Maybe not the whole world but part of it? How much? How much can you hate a country that has been raised by people who sell them lies. Scratch that, since the rest of the world hates the US. i could never have done this video, rather made this film. i believe that i would have let the little laff or eye roll during the serious parts. the moments when they were with the citizens i would have done with flying colors. it would have been like Japan for me and they were awesome. but during the part in the library in NK i would have cracked... they would have kept me or killed me for sure.
What I have seen on NK is saddening. There is this little tri from VBS guys and there is the documentary Soul train. That film was harsh. When it was finishing I was ready to join up with the movement , but it was over. The film is old now and the group seems gone.
It is a shame to live without a chance. or a choice. there is this part at the end of the snagfilm where our host is doing kereoke with his Korean group. dude found "anarchy in the uk" on the machine. and during that bit he narrates over the film ~ they (the Koreans) have no idea what punk rock is; they ahve no jazz, they have no blues, they have no rock. that sucks. seems narrow minded of me to have not been affected by the lack of cars and electricity and nightlife. but that's how i'm wired - for sound. to life without all the music is unfathomable to me. but that is only because music is how i see and base the world.
i assume that all of life's luxuries are scarce there. and life is so short, how sad to live it in entirety lacking happiness. but are they sad? can everyone there be sad? is that possible? could it be that they seem sad to us cuz they don't have what we have? as for this film i saw some people well dressed, and healthy looking and talented. they were out for the afternoon to take in the sights that the sight seers see. they didnt look to be on the verge of suicide. and they FUCKING love their leader. they think, i have heard, that he is a god. so you must have some positive people in the place or that dude would be out. if that is all you know then that is all you know. if all they know is what they have been shown then maybe there is some happiness there. not that i am trying to make NK seem like an ok place to be. i have no idea. my gut tells me that i would not like it. but i am just curious about the majority of the ppl there; are they all unhappy? to compare, i know that if a north Korean came to the US and shot a film in the ghettos of new York and new jersey that we would look pretty bad. i didn't see them tooling around the downtown metropolitan areas of north korea in the film. maybe there are some ppl there that have some amenities. there has to be right? yeah they did show several places that were old school, but i saw many of those in Japan and they are not primeval. maybe Japan and NK both are polynomial...
i don't know. i guess i just want to believe that there are some ppl there that are ok. i want to believe that the entire nation is not full of despair. either way, i hope the new leader can make a change for the better.
thanks to missy for the link that got me to the video and got my big brain going on this idea.and god bless us, everyone.
