My grandpa was in the army in WW2, The BIg One, as he always says. He got back to the states and married my grandma and they honeymooned in galveston. They wanted to dance, they've always loved to, so they went to this speak easy on the boardwalk and were going to be turned away except that they noticed my grandfather was wearing his uniform. So they let them in. That place is gone now, it just got washed away. And the historic strand is supposed to be wasted, the whole island under 4 feet of water, they are letting people out but nobody in.
Some people that were evacuated are staying in churches here in town. They are predicting that they could be here for months. The peeps working on the play have decided to invite them to the final dress rehersal of the play for free, because they are bound to be bored here, especially for that long. I think its a pretty cool idea. I can't dish the dirt on the plays anymore cause someone from the plays actually found me here. ruh roh shaggy!

I loved your grandad's story. Sorry that those places are now underwater.
Take care.
