And so I return from my DC adventure. I'm having one of those mornings where you realize that the past few days were so wonderful, that you were so there and in the moment, that you completely forgot to take some friggin pictures! So, the story is choppy, but heres what I got -
It began snowing the day after I arrived, which hindered our exploration and kept us inside for much of the time. Not necessarily a bad thing...the view from the window.
Wednesday afternoon we ventured out to the mall and Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The mall was beautiful blanketed in snow.
Inaguration morning, 7:30 am, exhausted and excited and ready to voice our dissent.
We met rallyb and BillHaverchuck at Union Station the morning of the Inaguration. You can't really see, but there's massive tanks and riot machines behind us...
We got there early and secured a spot right on the parade route. There were so many friggin cops. And in the background, the flag draped steps of the Capital where the Coronation of King George took place.
Ummmm...waiting for 5 hours...it was cold...
As the hours passed the streets filled up. To our immediate left, a group of protesters, to our immediate right, a group of rabid Bush supporters.
And thats that...no pics of the actual Inaguration parade, as my back was squarely turned. Thanks to everyone who came out that day to excercise your rights, on both sides. That is what makes this country beautiful.
And thank you thank you to , who I'm missing already...
PS - thanks for all the wonderful b-day wishes everyone!!!
