i have had it with my manager. i've kept my mouth shut so far on his double-long breaks, his wandering around on shifts with no word on where he's going or what he's doing, his complete lack of doing anything after he's done about two hours of work a day. he's leaving at the end of the month and there's a good chance that i'll be running the store once he's gone. but i came in at 4 for the midnight sale shift (we stay open past midnight on Mondays for people to buy any new releases they want to pick up at the absolute first minute of the street date) and he literally said to me "there's a ton of work to do tonight" and LEFT. a whole hour early. the district manager called for him a few minutes later and my coworker who answered the phone cheerfully told him that the manager had left for the day. the DM was obviously not pleased. because we're currently short-staffed right now, this was an even worse problem. i was the only one closing (which is NOT COOL with me when i have to be there so late in an area of town that has burglaries, homeless people wandering, etc.) and i ended up staying until a little past two because things were so disorganized. the last hour i was there was spent literally running around the store getting everything that had been missed before sale-priced. i love my job and i really do want the manager position next month, but before i finally left i sent the DM a very frustrated email about the manager. confronting the manager about his horrible abuse of his position tends to end badly for the person confronting him. he does not take criticism well. at all. i know there's not much to be done at this point but i was just so angry at someone behaving in a way that would get them fired in an instant if they weren't the one running the store.
gaahhh.
my back is killing me. i have to go to bed so i can get up in under eight hours to go back in to work and try not to scream obscenities at the manager.
i hope he's not hitting on the new girl he's training too badly (there are girls who won't even shop in the store anymore becasue he's so gross and creepy). and i hope she isn't picking up any horrible habits from him.
