took a nice walk to the woodland park rose garden to read the last issue of the believer. this time of year, the rose garden has no roses. a woman was on a cell phone, talking to a friend, complaining about the lack. i enjoyed the sunshine.

okay, so this show the swan? take a bunch of women who don't think they're attractive, give them a lot of surgery to make them attractive, and then have a contest to convince them they're still not pretty enough?
is that right?
is that right?

Ugh, that sounds awful.

a new album.
and it's amazing.
i think "someone" is supposed to be back now. let the agonizing shyness begin.

well, it looks like none of the job stuff matters anyway, cause they didn't call me back. and they didn't offer health insurance.
but i've got an interview at Tower records on tuesday. i've worked for them before, so i know what to expect. the young punk in me really really hates uniforms of any sort.
i think it's bullshit to think that in 2004, in HOLLYWOOD of all places, that anyone would give a shit about tattoos. so dumb.
books, books, books....
who knows. i love John Irving and Kurt Vonnegut and Fitzgerald and stuff like that. but lately i've been reading a lot of non-fiction. i just read fast food nation, and i'm about to start Srebrenica. i'm open to most anything.
sooo.....

agreed

one of the seattle galleries has a new set of john waters photographs on display. went to see them yesterday after working a dowtown author event with the former prime minister of norway.
somehow, the former prime minister of norway thing seems appropriate to a day in which the photographs of john waters were viewed.
i like coffee.

then you delivered

i think they can pull it off if they can get Prior healthy in time to win the division. i guess it's a good thing they picked up maddux. (not that that could ever be a bad thing) i'd love to see the cubs kick some yankee ass in the series. or take boston in 7, for history's sake.
i wonder how many heart attacks were had during the NLCS last year...

man, this isn't a fake. it tied my brain in a knot.

was at work very late last night. the store is across from a movie theater. they were changing the marquee. someone forgot a "k". and so, the movie was "the reconing".
which, as you know, is about a department of transportation crew that accidently puts all the traffic cones in the wrong place and has to do it again.

So exactly how long have you been saving up that little gem of a joke?
Oh, I guess as long as it took for a movie called The Reckoning to be out in the theaters,,,,nevemind,,,,
Hey, do you have your work printed in any form? I'd be interested in reading some...

i've been such a lazy shit about reading. i have this huge pile of about 150 DVDs that i haven't watched that magically ended up in my house, so i've been doing nothing but watching movies. i fell asleep to The Stepford Wives last night. i haven't fallen asleep with a book in too long, my friend.
i used to always buy three books in the time it took me to read one, which is good in these sad economic times, cause now i've got a ton of unread books lying around. someday i shall devour them.
have you been to Powell's in portland? i used to work a couple of blocks away. it will drive a book lover into the poor house. please tell me you've been to Powell's. if not, you're seriously missing out.

read a story at an open mic. walked home. stopped at a nearby bar for a stout or two, watched a man juggle four balls.
i've never been able to get past three.
what does it all mean?
"someone" wrote me a little note from new zealand. please help me not fuck it up.
reading: hannah tinti, stephen elliott, mikhail bulgakov
hearing: drums and tuba,...

another of my extremely popular bus anecdotes:
i had to take the metro to the seatac hilton to attend the pnba awards banquet. my buddy is the simon and schuster rep, and she wanted me to come and sit at the table with tony swofford (wrote a gulf war memoir called jarhead...heck of a writer...drank us all under the table last time he was...

Glad you kept me on your list long enough to witness my, albeit temporary, resurrection!
I may be in and out in the future.
How are you?
Maybe the guy in the argyle socks was laughing inside..Or perhaps his life itself or atleast that particular moment was a silent tribute to laughter. after all, he was wearing argyle socks and reading Mad magazine on a bus. He might have been wearing sock garters and positively beeming on the inside. I'd like to imagine so.

and now, i will sing you a song:
after the ball was over
annie took out her glass eye
set her cork leg in the corner
took out her bottle of rye
put her false teeth on the table
hung her false hair on the wall
and the rest of dear annie went bye bye
after the ball...

It's definitely hum-able...

I love it too. Imagine if you'd used the "I tried and I try tried/But still you say that I lied/Nobody's perfect so leave me if you object" portion of the song.

i hope you see "someone" soon...
