Well.
It has been a very long time since I've updated the old journal.
Christmas has come and gone once again. Rather different this year than past. Being single, I had just one family to visit (instead of three), and no girl-who-hates-christmas-family-visits to worry about keeping happy. So I spent the majority of my holiday cross country skiing and drinking with my parents, which was actually really fun.
Another contrast: the past few years, gift giving has gotten so excessive, I've actually felt ill by the end of present opening. Somehow, I've never felt that giving lots of gifts was an appropriate substitute for a single, well-thought-out gift. But that's just me. Anyway, this year, I received almost nothing, which makes me unbelievably happy. And I've donated all my Christmas cheques to UNICEF for disaster relief.
Friends, notably Kelvin are in town for New Year's. No idea what will go down, but it promises to be a bender.
In other news, I'm planning to go sailing in the Virgin Islands in early February with my dad. However, as I have a ton of work to get done by almost exactly the day I get back from vacation, it looks like I'll be getting very familiar with the view from my lab bench for the next thirty days or so. Oddly, I'm kinda excited about this.
Happy holidays, all.

transmission ends.
