My week has been fairly uneventful apart from going to see Jesu with laneyspeedhorn. Kill The Thrill and Isis also played (technically speaking, Isis were headlining) and the night as a whole was a good one. All three bands produced a melodic noise that lulled the crowd into deafening silence. I'd provide a more indepth description but my head is still somewhat clouded from seeing Jesu at short range. I even managed to shake Justin Broadrick's hand and babble incoherent fanboy noise at him. It was actually the first time I've been starstruck, but then he is quite possibly the biggest influence on the things I do musically so it was understandable. They were awesome.
A series of single notes played in static motion, the arc of sound mimicked by the contorting spasms of a man simultaneously constrained and set free by the swelling tidal wave of noise that he produces. A spiral of sonic emotion flowing into itself at its head, creeping without and within until you know and feel nothing but what the sound tells you.
"And all the stones I've thrown
they come back twice as strong.
And all the stones i've thrown,
tell me that nothing lasts."

I tend to think that same arrogant thing, though. Maybe a lot of people do.
