It's one of those update things you'll be wanting then? Ok. With actual events from my life, you say? I don't know about that. I'll try.
This weekend I was over in Leeds and York, and many interesting things went on. The main one was the final vocal and sample mixing for my band's first EP. All that needs doing now is sorting out some cuts at the beginning of tracks and the mastering - then the actual sonic side of the release is completed. This comes as something of a relief, since we recorded them last summer and a year is a long time to spend on 5 tracks (one of which won't even be on the CD).
On the Friday I went out in Leeds to Fab Cafe and the Bassment - made the acquaintance of a number of SG folks there, including the delightful India. I'd list all the others, but in my typical confused state I have forgotten who most of them were on the site... So it goes. You all have my eternal love, however.
The Saturday was mostly spent doing the mixing and then on to Leeds again for a night at Wendy House. It's really gone downhill, and it was already not as good as it used to be when I left a year ago. It's just so predictable now, and although most of the songs that get played are good ones it's hard to be excited when you've danced to them all a hundred times before. There's always the Mutate room, but that seems intent on mostly playing tunes I don't know - and when I do know them they're always remixes. That and other factors induced us to leave early. Not very rock and roll, huh?
Sunday we went to a carvery for a roasted lunch, which was highly satisfying if a bit expensive. You know you're getting old when you go to carveries for lunch with friends. But we spent most of our time giggling at the strange pictures on the walls, so that restores our youth somewhat. I made a few (read: many) purchases while I was there, taking advantage of the better music and comic shopping over in Yorkshire. New material possessions include DVDs (Bleeding Through, Therapy?), CDs (Helmet, From Autumn To Ashes, The Blueprint, Agoraphobic Nosebleed/Converge, Machine Head, Stoopi, Jimmy Eat World and a Ministry side projects compilation) and the latest Neil Gaiman graphic novel - 1602. It's all cool of course, and has sated my lust for new things temporarily.
Speaking of lust, I get to go see Mortimer for a good few days this coming weekend...

You must let us all know when your EP is out and where we can seize a copy...
