Well, I braved the kidney infection that I didn't mention me having previously to go out into Manchester last night. I had a stunningly good night all round, and here are the highlights...
- I went to see the spankingly great Coheed And Cambria at the Academy 2. They were really good, played all the songs I wanted to hear and looked more happy to be onstage than any other band I've ever seen. Even an extended dub jam during the encore could not diminish my appreciation. While there, I had a number of coincidences. First off, one of the support bands were Beyond All Reason, who are from York and I know vaguely. They used to be a rap-metal band called Osiris, and now they play emo hardcore stuff in a bandwagon jumping gesture. I made pleasantries and bought their CDs. Then at the end of the gig, I bumped into a fellow student from during my York days called Hoover. These things keep happening to me.
- Went along to the SGUK meet at Jilly's, which was fun all round. I chewed the fat with Yorkie, danced and shenaniganed with Fallen_Seraph and Big Gay Bob, and met the lovely and frankly jawdropping Felidae. Mrow.
- I even managed to get back relatively early, thanks to the superior train knowledge of my companions. Enduring a train full of drunken folk back to Blackpool at 4 in the morning is surprisingly easy when one has a walkman and a tape with some lovely loud diseased music on it.
