I'm currently listening to the unfinished mixes of my band's CD. Damn we rule. It's quite a change for me to record some music that I've had a hand in the creation of and am truly happy with the way it sounds. Hopefully it'll be even groovier after the mixing is finished as well. Admittedly my past record with, uh, recordings isn't that hot - my first major band's demo was pretty poorly recorded and executed, although it was pretty popular on the UK underground tape swapping scene for all of about 6 months. It was black metal as well. Oh yes. We had the corpse paint and everything.
The second time I recorded something with a band was a complete disaster. We were really hard to define, sort of a punk trash industrial rock thing. We were fairly poor, mainly because our guitarist played his instrument far worse than I can, and I don't even play guitar on anything like a regular basis. It was a crappy and shambolic recording on a 4-track made in our keyboardists' conservatory. It was truly awful. I can't even listen to it anymore. The actual songs are alright, they're just completely ruined by poor recording and playing. Somehow it managed to get on John Peel. Christ knows how, maybe he figured it was meant to be that discordant and weird.
So I guess that's why I'm so proud of this one. Hopefully we're going back into Cadman Lane Studios sometime in January to finish it off, and then I'll be whoring it to everyone with ears. And for those without, I'll just carry round a small P.A. system to press against the side of their skull so they can feel the vibrations.
As a sidenote, I'm currently pondering whether or not to do a set for the Suicide Boys group. It's not anything to do with shyness holding me back - I have no shame. I'm just wondering whether anyone would be interested in seeing me nekkid, especially since most of the discussion there seems to be pretty negative in nature. Which is in stark contrast to the heaps of praise the Goils get on the main boards. Obviously it's not quite the same situation, but still. I've got some cool ideas photographically and stylistically, I'd be interested in seeing whether or not I could pull them off. I'd have posted this on the SB group boards but they also have a "don't ask, just post" policy. So all you lucky people have to get a mental image now.
Monkeys, monkeys, everywhere.

Go ahead and drop trou for SB. I dare you!
Monkeys rule.
I'd like to hear the music when it's finished. You'll have to send me a CD.
Do a set! Please! I'll shower you with affection and praise and stuff. If you want to email sample shots to me, go ahead.
