My birthday has actually been pretty enjoyable for once. I'm one of these people who pretty much dreads the day, due to a combination of getting older and a sense of impending doom. The doom thing isn't random, I've had some fairly unpleasant birthdays before. I spent my 18th in hospital having an abscess removed from my arse. That wasn't a whole lot of fun. Many people have had it worse though, I'm sure. Today was quite uneventful, which I was in many ways quite grateful for. I got up late, received Pirates Of The Caribbean on video from my parents (woo!) and then went into town to do some birthday spending and to send a load of Christmas cards off. My purchases included the new Eddie Izzard video and CDs by At The Gates, Alkaline Trio, Stampin' Ground and Atreyu. I'm so bad at not spending money.
I then went down to the pub where I work to have a meal with some friends which was nice, made even more so by Joe having bought me a hat. Since I only ever wear the one (my 'Destroyer' beanie as probably seen in some photo or other in my Profile) it was a welcome addition to my clothing arsenal. Had food, came back home to hang with Joe and CJ for a couple of hours. Relaxing, pleasant.
And THEN I came online and found a whoooole thread dedicated to my birthday on SG UK. You people rule. No, seriously. That made me feel great, partly because very few of my friends from York and Leeds have even bothered to text me a happy birthday, much less send a card or anything. I love you all.
