Pretty much all of the ailments seem to have passed overnight. Peculiar but by no means unwelcome. I celebrated this (and today being my day off) by going to see The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Despite my fears it was quite enjoyable, although bearing only a slight resemblance to the comic by Alan Moore. After From Hell I had abandoned all hope of his work being represented accurately though, so I had set this from my mind and decided to just watch and be entertained. So.
I'm currently sat in front of the computer listening to Nick Cave. Specifically 'Do You Love Me Part 2' which is an amazing track that has a lot of meaning to me. Basically it reminds me of a very rocky patch in my life earlier this year that involved a breakup that was harsh for me. It got me thinking how even when events have past, music (and smells as well, but that's a different story) can rekindle the old emotions. But somehow at some point down the line the sadness changes into a kind of comfortable nostalgia that makes you smile in a sad, enigmatic kind of way.
It's strange.
But while we're on the subject, best breakup tracks? In no particular order...
Nick Cave - 'Do You Love Me Part 2', 'Let Love In'
Jimmy Eat World - 'Cautioners'
New Order - 'Temptation', 'Dreams Never End'
Wolfsheim - 'Once In A Lifetime'
The Cure - most of their back catalogue, but in particular 'Apart', 'Cold' and all of the album Disintegration
Anyone else care to contribute?
**EDIT**
Realised I really had to add these.
Covenant - 'Call The Ships To Port'
Nine Inch Nails - 'Something I Can Never Have'
Tori Amos - 'Tear In Your Hand'
